Default TWA cargo poster

My wife got me a TWA cargo poster. I really like it. I asked her where could I hang it. She gave me a look and then said, "I never think these things through."

Okay, being a cargo freak that is super slick. I'd hang it in the living room for all to see.

That's the kind of poster for the garage wall.

Every man-cave should have one of those hanging on the wall.

Every house/apartment should have a hobby room where stuff like that can have a good spot on the wall!

For sure. I have several of Nick Knapps 'Airliners Illustrated' 747 and 77W prints and some Todoperfiles which actually I am having one arriving today in the mail, to hang up on the wall one day in my spare room. Framing is just so expensive though. It would probably cost me a couple thousand dollars to frame every print I own.
The Todoperfiles prints are no more than $10US, and are of really good quality. Bought this A Argentinas 744 print for $7 bucks.

Well looks like I’m reviving an old thread here. Let me chime in with what I know about that poster.

My mom retired from TWA, and she knew a ton of people. That specific poster was never made in any really quantity, about a dozen were ever made and we also have 1 of them in primo shape. Ours came from the wall of the twa freight office when my mom said she liked it and they gave it to her off the wall.

A bit more story about them as well. They made the dozen posters but executives didn’t feel it conveyed a professional image of TWA and didn’t approve making a large run of them for the freight customers so what was made was it. A few of them were given to very large customers who did freight with twa and a couple were given away to employees. My guess is that maybe 5-6 were ever really in circulation.

If you don’t mind me asking what did she pay for it.

I’ve sent the picture of that poster to aviation speciality companies in NY and none have ever seen that poster so they have no idea how to even price it either.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing the story.

She paid $50. It’s not in mint but it’s in good condition. Hope that helps.
