Default Price guide for diecast models

I'm new to this hobby. Is there a price guide like Beckett for how much the models are worth? It would be nice to at least get an idea how much each models are going for.

eBay is about as close you'll get to a guide.

Thumbs up Re: Price guide for diecast models

Welcome to the 'mad-house' Buckeyes!

In the 10 or so years I've been collecting various scales (1:200, 1:144, 1:72) I can honestly say I've not seen a 'printed' price guide. In the 15 years of my collecting vintage Dinky Toys, yes, printed price guides are everywhere, but collectors really don't pay much attention as they're out of date by the time they're off the press. I can imagine that would apply to recent diecast.

At DA.C here, though, you can look through the various sections of the database in the upper navigation. I'm not sure how up to date the price info is, but it is a starting point. Finally, you can use eBay as a rough guide as to what the market can handle. Remember to check closed auctions as well for the ones that actually got 'sold'.

Again, Welcome!

Ebay is a good guide, check sold listings to get an idea.

There is some guidance on the database as well. Ignore the really low or really high numbers. Wings900 Model Database - Advanced Search

Don't follow Ebay. It's unreliable, You have sellers like Virginfans that sell models for $80+ and at the same time that same model sold by other sellers doesn't sell for $30. The database isn't reliable as well since many people enter nonsensical values to elevate their model values. Basically there is no standard and these models aren't really regarded as collectables only to the few of us here.
Just keep track of what you paid for them and enjoy them for what they are.

Quite agree! It is ridiculous the prices some people list models on E. Bay at, then they wonder why they don't sell. Some people don't understand how an auction site works in order to encourage bidders, not to try and catch the one 'desperate' one. As a guide, keep a record of what you paid for a model, then if you want to sell it, list it at that price or slightly less to encourage bidders. That way, at least you'll recover your money without having too many expectations or being greedy. Those that do that might be surprised if it encourages a bidding war and you get more than expected for it.

eBay is quite reliable to obtain a 'market rate' for certain models that are only available on the secondary market - not the listing price as the guys have mentioned above but look at the past 3 or more sales to get a feel for what people are paying for things.

eBay is reliable for a price guide. However, if you're only looking at what people are asking versus what they are actually getting then that's your fault.
