What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
The very first aircraft I ever flew on was a Hughes Airwest 727-200.
I was seven years old and back in those days you could sit in the Captains chair of the cockpit and get the full tour, leaving with a pair of plastic wings. Those were the days...

Re: What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
According to my father, a Vickers Viscount, although he doesn't remember the airline, followed by a British Eagle Bristol Britannia. The first flight I remember is a BOAC Boeing 707, probably a -436.

Re: What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
Air Canada Viscount. Montreal-Saint John,New Brunswick. I am guessing around 1971-72. I was only 3 or 4 years old. First jet would have been 1975,same route,Eastern Provincial B737. I remember a very pretty FA on the EPA flight, that looked very much like Lynda Carter. Not a clue why I recall that at the age of 7?

Re: What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
I believe my first flight was on a Canada 3000 A320 roundtrip between Toronto and Vancouver. Late 1990's.
My second was on a WestJet 737-200 between Toronto and Calgary. 2000.

Re: What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
Very first 'aircraft' I flew on was a Bell helicopter (like those MASH ones) at an airshow in Prince George, BC, about 1959.
But my first commercial aircraft flight was at night on a Nordair 737-200 from Hamilton to Ottawa, in 1979, to visit my brother. That was the Victoria Day weekend and how memorable it all was. I must have done about a hundred more trips to Ottawa, on the same type, by the time 1983 was over. I loved flying in that aircraft and route and Ottawa.
Thanx for asking . . . brought back some lovely memories for me.

Re: What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
Delta L-1011 to Atlanta. It was a graduation present to visit friends in Georgia (I was living in San Diego at the time). On the way home (in another L-1011) the captain announced that Richard Nixon had just resigned, so it was a memorable flight for me.

I was less than a year old, so I hope I didn't disturb my fellow passengers too much. It was probably a 747-100.

In 2000, on a Delta MD-88 out of LGA down to Florida. Since I was young and it was before 9/11, I got a trip to the cockpit during the flight! Good times...

Qantas B747SP from Singapore to Brisbane in 1993. Only 2 years old so obviously I didn't know anything back then. (Had to rely on old timetables to check the a/c).

Most likly a DC-7 from LAX to BOS around 1956. I don't remember the flight as I was a baby, but I have picture of me in a stroller in Boston around that time. My parents told me we flew from LAX and I was a lap baby.

I was seven years old, Newark to Orlando; October, 1975; Eastern 727-200 "Whisperjet" white, hockey stick livery.
I still remember being bummed that we weren't taking the L-1011 "Whisperliner" parked at the next gate over . . .

My first flight was on a Singapore Airlines B747-400s when I was lets say... ten? It was one of the first B744 SIA flights. Previously, They were operating B743s. Sad to see those SIA B744s go.. Their now replaced by the A380.

Re: What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
My first ever ride was on a TWA 727-100 series in FEB 1979 as a 9 year old kid. Flight 379 - ORD to TUS. I wish I realized how valuable recording N-numbers was back then.
The inbound flight from LGA was delayed due to the weather and I can remember seeing that rocket ship of an aircraft finally pull into the gate. G-2 like in the pic or more likely G-4 next to it. We sat on the left side directly across from the mid galley. Food, silverware, the whole bit even in coach.
Walking into the TWA terminal at ORD (now resigned to American Eagle regional jets) through the classy old rotunda (now a restaurant) and taking off on 27L on a cold snowy night sitting at the window just above the Krueger flap and watching the snow flakes fly by faster and faster in the landing light beam and then like magic ending up in short sleeves looking at palm trees 3.5 hours later. I can remember to this day how different the air even smelled when the door was opened on the ramp in TUS. Warm and sweet instead of cold and dry. How can one not get hooked on that?

Re: What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
My first flight ever was on a Robin (I think, I only knew military a/c at that time) at the age of 15. Walked away with one of the worst headache of my life !
First commercial flight, six years later, was on an Air France 747 from Paris to Fort-de-France (second, about one hour later, was on an AF 737 from Fort-de-France to Cayenne). At that time you could talk for a while with the captain. I was quite surprised by the cramped flight deck of the then biggest passenger aircraft in the world !

Re: What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
Well, according to my father, my first flight was in 1963, from Lydd to Ostend and return. We had our family car (a Citroen I think) on board also. One way was on a Bristol Freighter, the other on a Carvair.

United got their 747's in 1970, so you went to Hawaii in 1970. If you went in 1969 then you flew on a DC-8.
My first flight was on a KLM DC-8 TLV-AMS and connected to another KLM DC-8 AMS-YUL.

Re: What was the very first aircraft you got to fly on?
In 1966 I flew from Adelaide (South Australia) to Whyalla for a school excersion. The whole class flew in an Ansett Airlines DC-3. It was noisy and slow but still a great experience.
I remember the pilot pointing things out to us and then we we all rushed to one side of the aircraft we were told that this made the plane unstable. The pilot was unable to maintain level flight with 30 boys all on one side of the aircraft.
Those were the days
