Re: The best airline ads
I love the A380 shadow commercial by Qantas, really great ! The EK commercials aren't bad either, the CX ones are downright bad, they make travellers look like pricks ! BUT one add on the wall in the MTR station for their premium economy was spot on. "It's alright to turn right"

Re: The best airline ads
There are many magazine, poster and booklet ads from the past 75 years that merit great artistic consideration. Having said that, there are few ads that have ever captured 'pictures' of airline people lifting me into the stratosphere of that "Come Fly With Me" feeling. At least prior to the digital age, they often looked goofy, awkward and somewhat fake delivering little value.
By far, ads with color art, drawings with a clever tagline and pictures of aircraft have always delivered that sense of flight and destination. A few examples come to mind.
Aeronaves De Mexico ran a series of beautiful color ads in 1969 that delivered an ethereal feeling of flight and destination.
Southern Airlines provides a clever tagline with simple drawing and map.
North Central Airlines delivers a smart tagline with a beautiful skyline backing the aircraft.
