Default Flag on KC-10s

Has anyone ever talked about the fact that the US Flag on the Starboard side of the tail is backwards. All models that have the flag are the same? ? ?

Personally it would be SO much better if they were all upside down, but that's probably just me.

That's funny! They messed up the real planes too! They all have it backwards.

You know, there is a reason the flag of your country is called the Union Jack.

Even it can be the wrong way round though. The thin diagonal red lines of the Northern Irish flag are not all placed identically on the white background of the Scottish Saltire, they change sides.

That said, most people in this country wouldn't know or even care anyway, so, yes, we couldn't give Jack sh*t about it

American soldiers also wear backward flags.

Wasn't this for aesthetic reasons, and didn't US airlines have this too?I have read something about this before.

The flag flies with the wind, not against it - I've seen this justified in the past as representing the military unit/aircraft in question moving forward into conflict. I think civilian airliners follow similar protocol.

The field of stars is always oriented towards the front of the ship or plane, and the stripes are always pointed towards the rear.

So, if you look at a plane from its port side, the flag will look "correct", but from the starboard side, it looks reversed.

The flag blowing in the wind on a flagpole will often have the stars in the upper right corner. There is nothing wrong or purposely anti-flag about this. There is no backwards. It is just one side of the flag.
