Air New Zealand Changes its Livery
It looks like Air New Zealand is to do away with the two tone teal and blue tail and paint it black. Bad decision I reckon, but who am I to say, does anyone else here think its a good idea?
Heres the link to the story

Re: Air New Zealand Changes its Livery
I guess the All Blacks livery will be a total reversal- black fuselage & tail with white titles & Koru. Obviously someone in the Air NZ hierarchy realised that "when you go black, you'll never go back". Now there's a great new advertising slogan for them!

Re: Air New Zealand Changes its Livery
Hmmmm.....if they paint all their fleet in All Blacks schemes would be much greater than this. At least for me, the black scheme is one of the most gorgeous liveries I've ever seen.

Agreed, I love the black scheme. Reminds me...I need to get a 1:400 of one.

Re: Air New Zealand Changes its Livery
Think they liked the Black scheme, and it fits the Air New Zealand Corporate well.
The Black is the new BLACK!

Im all for the blue green combo too mate. I really liked the 80's scheme, I was guttered when they changed from that, then I got used to the Pacific Wave livery, then they took away the wave, I thought, keeping the blue green was a lin k to the past. Now it seems we just want to be like the All Blacks. The article says about how Air New Zealand thinks its New Zealands national colour. Bullocks to that !! the All Blacks use that colour, the Silver Ferns (netball) use it, our national colours are blue and red I thought, from the flag. Meh, what will be, will be.

Re: Air New Zealand Changes its Livery
The whole affair seems like a recipe for disaster. Looks like colour has disappeared from ANZ.
The font change does a fine job of removing the current unique tone of refined, under stated elegance, and replace it with the look of a charter firm that flies twin engine Cessnas.
Well, with the above destined to be applied to all of their communications (in black and white!) ANZ is sure to save a bundle on printing costs.
Good luck to 'em.

Bleh. Another boring livery...whatever happened to imagination? Too expensive, I guess.

Re: Air New Zealand Changes its Livery
They should at least run the teal to blue blend through the Koru. IMHO that would look sharp against the black tail and add some needed depth. Having the c/s in b+w seems so unfinished. Bleh!

Re: Air New Zealand Changes its Livery
It would be unprofitable to paint each plane in all blacks, black is the heaviest paint and thus why you don't many black planes at they are heavier.

Re: Air New Zealand Changes its Livery
^^It's only the tail fin that will be painted black, like the one in the first post.

A white fuselage with some letters on it is not plain and classy but boring. It's probably just the cheapest solution to get the jet painted. Nowadays more and more airlines prove a lack of fantasy. Perhaps they are owned by Uncle Srooge.

I disagree with the class part but I definitely agree with you on the second part. Airlines are becoming so cheap and un-creative. I think most are owned by Uncle Scrooge.

Their 1980s livery was the best IMO.
