Building a Nation
After writing threads and posts and getting them deleted (NOT HERE) for no appearant reason I thought I would offer you this Squawk Talk subject and ask; Discuss.
Building a Nation?
First of all you, and a few other folk, set up a Country by colonizing an area of unoccupied / unclaimed ground. Then you invite a global audience to come and co-habit and share a life in utopia where freedom of speech and unlimited activity is encouraged.
After a few years it seems apparent to the government that many citizens are becoming restless and challenging the rule of authority. Questions are being asked on how the country is being run and whether democracy is truly functioning.
At this point in time the President becomes concerned and creates an elite force to monitor and covertly suppress the work of perceived activists.
But as time goes by paranoia starts to overwhelm the ruling elite and more legislation is passed giving greater powers to the military. This enables them to instantly quash any uprising and to avoid any national unrest that may develop.
The Secret Police revel in their new found power and compile a list of those most likely to cause disruption and monitor their activities at all times, and eradicate any “unfavorable” views that might reach the populous. Records show that “undesirables” have disappeared overnight leaving the remainder to live in fear of being sanctioned, humiliated or, ultimately, loosing their right to survive.
Thus a country with the intention of becoming a Democratic Free State has developed into a Dictatorship where only the compliant, or unsuspecting, survive without fear. Those with foresight wishing to escape tyranny emigrate to pastures new and set up fresh colonies in which to thrive and prosper.
Sadly recent history has seen many examples of such National development but history also shows us that as time goes by dissatisfaction grows and uncontrollable uprisings occur.
Finally dictatorships fall; some with dignity but others linger on until only a loyal few remain to defend the final frontier.
Not only can international countries, past and present, be identified as being states that fall within the above but also global businesses, international sports organizations, and intellectual groups whose activities include hobbies and pastimes.

Depending upon how many extra lines you have read I wouldn't be to sure about that. Interest in some mainstay areas has been dwindling to the point of boredom due to editorial interventions.

There are probably quite a few posts that you could ask that question of, but responding to just plane crazy talk can help pass the time when you are in the hostile environment of an overcrowded In-fight lounge.

well politics, religion and biased censorship can quickly cut the the treads of a good forum, and reduce it to ribbons............hard to sew together when it gets to that stage!!!

This looks a lot like spam. A bunch of political babble. One reason I can think of that gets this kind of gibberish deleted is that no one is interested in debating it.
Oh, and I saw the movie "Let the Right One In". It's a vampire movie, and not a particularly scary one. I liked the American version, "Let Me In", better.

Yes sir, a vampire movie, I have both versions but liked the original version better. Over on the theater forum I belong, the two movies are debated quite often but both are very good.

Quite agree. The fictional political story is uninteresting hence the potential for deletion.

No. What REALLY made me sore was a personalised foul mouth and abusive post made by the site owner when responding to a respected member.

I've seen that sort of arrogance in varying amounts there as well, and I see no further reason to visit that place any more either.

Re: Building a Nation
What you all need to understand is forums are privately owned and paid for. Each forum I participate in has its own distinctive personality formed by the majority of the members and moderators. I find if you don't agree with the other members and moderators ignore them or go somewhere else. On every forum someone is going to post something you don't like or you're going to post something they don't like. That's life!
There is a balance with trying to moderate forums. Too much moderation and you stifle discussion, not enough and you have chaos.

Quite true. Over time, most will eventually gravitate to the forum (or forums) with the style and personality that fits them best.

Re: Building a Nation
I wonder why the thread would be considered as a spam. By definition it is not a bulk message sent to anyone indiscriminately so this not the case. It is also legit since it was made under the General Squawk Talk section (Please post off-topic stuff here) and was soliciting thoughts about the topic. Even if the topic may or may not be an interest to anyone, it should be allowed to be published and without irrational suspicion or hatred to an individual.

Firefly. Thankyou for your understanding. My thread could be considered as a type of parable that contains a hidden message to those outside of DAC, but it seems that the penny has yet to drop with many who have not taken the time to read into it.

Yeah, kinda like when the British failed miserably in their efforts to build a country that became known as Iraq. There's always plenty of blame to go around no matter what issue - hidden message or not - is being discussed.

I didn't say it was spam, I said it read like spam. Many spam messages have an esoteric theme to them, nothing related to what they are trying to sell, but most are basically drivel. Not saying this is drivel, I'm sure some thought went into this...but it's uninteresting and vague. I'm not hating the individual or the message, just that my interpretation is probably shared by the moderators. Sorry, but if you have deep thoughts you want to share, you may be at the wrong forum. And they need to be expressed more clearly.

Modelman, I'm not dissing you. Your subject is probably worthy of discussion if it was more coherently written, and offered in a more intellectual setting. Most come here to discuss aircraft or the hobby, not deep intellectual political theses. Of course, like most of what's written on this forum as responses to other people's comments, it's only my opinion.
