Default Favourite Airline..... and Why?

Im interested in the reasons why people form an attraction to a certain airline.

As you may see from my Avatar.... my favourite airline is Delta.

You may also notice that i live in Wigan, England. So why is Delta my favourite Airline you may ask?

Well the reason Delta is my favourite goes back around 15 years or more when my Father used to take me to Manchester Airport at weekends.... Of all the aircraft and airlines i witnessed as a kid, the only one that ever stood out from the crowd was a Delta L1011 in the classic widget livery.... it was love at first site and that affection for Delta has gone on ever since.

So thats my story......

Feel free to share yours on your Favourite Airlines...........

Well when I was little I loved Southwest but as I grew older it was Midwest Airlines for a long time. When I joined here it was my favorite until a couple of months into joining this forum. It grew to be Lufthansa and KLM. When I moved to Syracuse, NY and I saw jetBlues everyday of about every other hour jetBlue became my favorite. So here are my top 5.

jetBlue
Lufthansa
KLM
Emirates
BMI

I like Emirates and BMI also. I don't really know why but I do. My top three though are definitly jetBlue Lufthansa and KLM. I love jetBlue's variety in their tails. Although I still love my first loves Southwest and Midwest Airlines.

Well, because your favorite airline and aircraft are also mine, I won't beat you up too hard on this. But this "favorite airline" topic has been beat to death in this forum in several threads. If you had done a search, you would have found them all.

as you can see by my avatar, mine is british caledonian. not 100% sure, why, but it is a classic livery, followed by british airways landor and boac. as for "overseas" airlines, then delta widget, pan am, eastern hockey.

Singapore Airlines has been my favourite for a very long time, ever since I first traveled on their flights. I just love everything about them: the livery, service, the FA's, delicious food, their main hub Singapore Changi aiport. I want to go on SQ again someday, just wish they had flights to Toronto but that will never happen. Even after travelling on other airlines like United, Air Canada, KLM I have to say Singapore is the best! But KLM is a close second.

Ever since I was a kid growing up in Hong Kong in the 1980s, I've been attracted to CX's green and white stripe livery. To this day I still wish they had kept the green and white stripes, to me that symbolises Cathay Pacific. Green is my favourite colour, perhaps with the influence of seeing all those green and white tails at Kai Tak. That's why Cathay Pacific is my favourite airline. The fact that I have never been disappointed with their service is also another reason.

TWA

I flew them a lot when I was a kid. I later invested in them but that didn't work out very well.

I sure do miss seeing TWA 747-100s in twin stripes with "Skyliner 747" on them.

Connor, I share your love for the DL L-1011, but when they changed from their widget livery, I haven't cared much for any Delta livery except for the Olympics MD-11. My last flight on them was in the 90s, as I would fly them to/from San Francisco/Atlanta (or beyond).

My favourite airline now is Virgin America. Not only do I love the cabins of their aircraft, but they have thus far provided excellent service. I fly them fairly frequently to/from Seattle/San Francisco and have yet to have a bad experience.

I also like KLM, as I will never forget my first sighting of a KLM B747!! Love at first sight.

My favorite airline is Northwest Airlines. It became my favorite airline when I flew 2 of their 747-200 moving from the Philippines to Minnesota. I just love the Bowling Shoe livery. As a kid, Cathay Pacific was my favorite.

I've got lots of favourites. Hard to pick out one.

I'm very keen on SQ - i rate them massively and love their whole corporate identity etc. Really like their service etc.

Big fan of EY as well - with a little bit of tuning, they could be in SQ's league.

Shorthaul i'd say it was Bangkok Airways - they are just awesome. Love their very different way of doing things. Love the lovely food on half hour hops, love their crews, love their clubhouse for ALL passengers in BKK, love their personalised paintjobs on all their planes, and love their little airport in Koh Samui which is a lovely experience. Also a big fan of the 717 and they are one of the only companies who fly them now. Real shame as they are great planes.
