For me, it's Heathrow. I can only say that it's my favourite because it's the only one I know a lot about (as I'm there quite often) and it is the home of British Airways. I wouldn't say it's a great airport, because it isn't very good if you want to do some decent filming of aircraft taking off. It's too restricting there. If only there wasn't so much terrorism or fear of terrorism. I suppose I should blame the IRA as the reason for all of the barriers up on the fences.
If I could visit Manchester (I still haven't), then MAN would probably be my favourite. Great for plane spotting and great for filming! If the A380 ever begins services there in the future once the airport is ready for regular services with them, I'm sure that the best footage of the A380 in service will come from people who film at Manchester. Take mcpcshowcase/mcpcshowcaseHD and blueb0g on YouTube for example.

You can't possibly blame the IRA for having fences around LHR!

No, fences are at every airport. I'm just blaming the high security and those pannels that block the view on them.
If there were no fences, people would run onto the runway and kill themselves. I blame many of these things on political conflicts, religious conflicts and science (if you know what I mean).

Singapore Changi (SIN/WSSS), my home airport. Hardly good for spotting within the terminals but there're many specials to be seen if you have a lucky day.

Mine is usualy the one, where I come home... so for now its GYN (Santa Genoveva in Goiânia, Brazil)... I love it, when I come from rainy, windy and cold Săo Paulo (CGN) to the warm and sunny and small airport of Goiânia.
BTW: in Săo Paulo (CGN) I am always scared: it's so crouded and so much airplane traffic... |

JFK and SAP.
JFK cause I live in NY and it's the one I use the most... SAP cause it's my hometown's airport and I love how simple it is...nothing crazy, nothing outrageous...I would also say MIA but you need a map to move around in that airport...lol

Phoenix Sky Harbor. I remember it in the 70's and 80's when the TWA and Amreican 707's and the Delta DC-8's were flying there. Hughes Air West was pretty big there as well flying DC-9's, and F-27's and even B-727's.

I have two favorite airports - both because of the spetacular approach view out of the left side of the airplane of the downtown - assuming the wind and runway are correct!
SAN - San Diego AEP - Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery Aero Parque - ranchero - ps - if on the right side of the airplane, SEA - Seattle/Tacoma approaching from the north provides a pretty good view of downtown too. |

I have 4, if that's okay. First, is because of the planes fly right over your head. 2nd, is because its located in my dream city where i would like to live. 3rd, is because i am from California, and because of the variety of Airlines seen there. Plus it has the best spotting location that i've been to so far, Sepulveda Blvd. And, 4th, although i am from California. I moved to Kentucky. I see alot of my favorite airline here, because of its hub.
1. St. Maarten/Princess Juliana Intr'l - TNCM 2. San Diego Intr'l (Lindbergh Field) - KSAN 3. Los Angeles Intr'l - KLAX 4. Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Intr'l - KCVG I have a Minor Airport Favorite too, which is my favorite because my Friend works there at the fuel pit, and i go there a whole lot with my Dad. It is located in California too. 1. Brackett Field/La Verne - KPOC |

The oil terminal at Sullom Voe on the Shetlands, when the BAE 146s take off and they stop the traffic on the road round the end of the runway.
Need to go and stand on one of the nearby surrounding hills and watch. Sumburgh is where the road goes over the runway and also the road goes down the side of one of the runways with nothing more than a small wooden fence between the runway and the road. Tingwall is good as you can walk down the field right next to the runway and watch them little BN Islanders land at close quarters. Also, you can see it all from the carpark, as that's practically where the plane stops between flights! Another great little airport is Kirkwall in the Orkneys. You just walk into the building, go to the back where the windows are, and there are all the planes sitting there. You can watch them land, taxi up, unload/load, refuel etc, and then depart again. and you are there with all the passengers as well, as they go out of doors right next to the aforementioned windows. It is mainly the likes of SAABs' and BN Islanders, but, still! It is also where you get the record breaking 2 minuite flight between Westray and Papa Westray as one of the daily inter island flights they do. If there is space on the Islander, you can buy a tourist ticket, where you simply stay on the plane for the round trip between the different islands (you can get off at the different 'stops' and take pictures, but you have to depart with the plane) . You have to book this within 30 minuits of departure however, meaning that you have to be pretty close to the airport, if not already at the airport for it to work! This tourist ticket applies to all of the different flights they do, as they do not do one big grand tour of all the islands in one flight, you have to do several flights to see all the different routes. I'll get to the likes of Barra one of these days!! I suspect that it might become my favourite when I do, as that's where they land on the beach!!

Albeit my local is YYZ (Malton), my fave is: Prince George, BC (YXS), as that is my old hometown and the place where I fell in love with aviation as a kid. (That's it in my avatar, circa 1962) It gave me great delight to visit this little airport back in 2007. Such wonderful memories!
Others that 'excite' me are Schiphol (AMS), Orly (ORY), and Charles de Gaulle (CDG). /U

Mine would be YVR (Vancouver), mainly because of it's ambiance with the aboriginal canadian structures, and its modern design.

I actually like Knoxville McGhee-Tyson. I can't stand living here and I'll finally get to leave next year but little airports are nice. You park your car, you walk about 10 yards and you are in the terminal, you're through security in about 3 minutes, and it takes you no more than 10 seconds to identify your gate (Gates 1 - 12). It's all CRJ/ERJ (Except US Airways who likes to throw in a Dash 8 every now and then & occasionally Delta with a MD-88 or 757) here so the boarding process takes about 10 minutes, you're always #1 for takeoff, and you're good to go.

Yes I still have that in mind, just never got round to it yet, that's all!
By doing that I will then have to go the the Orkneys again afterwards and re - do a certain other flight, as otherwise, I will no longer be able to say that the last flight I ever did was the shortest scheduled flight in the world! Landing on a beach does have kudos yes, of course, don't get me wrong, but when weighing up the options .....

KSNA for me. Love the Orange County/Newport Beach area. The fact that the place is named for John Wayne doesn't hurt either.

Meh, sounds too much like hard work!!
![]() By the way EGPFGLA, I saw one of the Twotters circling over Dumbarton yesterday (Friday) at about 5.15pm as it (presumably) waited to land at Glasgow. It was low enough that I could actually take a reasonable look at it. And I was on a hill too. Made a change from the Sea Plane that buzzes about like a fly all the time. Last plane I saw previously to this was a Queazyjet as it took off from Glasgow (as I passed in a bus on Thursday). Quote:
