Default EK A380 at LHR

Here is what is appearing at the entrance to London's Heathrow airport. This place was previously occupied by a large BA Concorde model. Now EK has taken over. Personally I'm against this as LHR being a British airport should have let the Concorde stay where it was and the Concorde is as iconic if not more so than the A380, but I guess money did all the talking here:

What a big piece of garbage this is. All it is is a computer with wings. They couldve just gotten a mac or sometin like that and glued some angel wings on it and stuck an EK sticker on it and called it an A380 for alot less.

For all you know, this model might even have flashing lights and retracting landing gears. A real eye catcher and marketing gimmick on the part of EK, but the fact is that EK is not a British airline. A prize display place like this should be home to the pride of British aviation and airlines and the Concorde was perfect for that. This new erection will look so out of place. They even put up one of these in Pakistan in my city a few years ago and it was so ugly it was actually declared an eyesore and someone had it removed.

@Winarc: Thats the real Concorde you're talking about. The one they had at the entrance of the airport was a model.

And winglets, worse than those gigantic 787s in the oversized forum. Look closely at the first image... see any trace of the winglets that are the airbus signature?

What a monstrosity, it needs to be removed immeadiately, anything british would be better at LHR, unless LHR suddenly becomes an EK hub.

Well with 5 daily flights into LHR you could say that LHR is a mini EK hub.

I think I'll go there agian tomorrow, this time on foot and take a few more pics, but this time overhead from the bridge.

You do realise that they probably could have fitted a real BN Islander, in BA livery into that space! Symbolic with the UK being an Island after all.

Mmmmm, Its cool looking, but I don't think it should be there. Sorry if I offend anyone, but IMHO, Britain is become waaaaaaay too Muslim, and not British. When I was there in 07, it looked like Pakistan. I think they should have left the concorde there or make the A380 a BA one at least. These Arabs are taking over!!! haha, jk.
(sorry if I offended anyone! I really have nothing against arabs or muslims, in fact, i have a lot of muslim friends. My grandmother also lived in Saudi Arabia for 8 years.)

We Dougs' are just curious creatures, that's all.

Actually, I was asking Jboulin where they had been in Britain, as, other than places like London, Luton, Leicester, Birmingham and Bradford (Bradistan), I have my doubts about the statement over all.

I'm curious now you see.

Doug - back from being up north, including the Shetlands where a lot of the new houses actually look more Scandinavian than anything else, but this is hardly surprising really if you know some of the history of the Northern Isles.
At a latitude the same as southern Greenland, in the Shetlands, you are closer to Norway than you are to even most of mainland Scotland. Glasgow, never mind London might as well be on another planet.

I must and will agree with Bill-ay wholeheartedly on this one. I have a strong dislike for the A380, and knowing it has replaced a model of a Concorde kinda ticks me off. Maybe someone will set fire to this thing.

Imagine if the french do the same to its Concorde at Charles de Gaulle and replace it for the A380. Concorde can't be compared with any kind commercial aircraft from the past, present or future.

In this photo the only thing that cames into my mind in that british are forgetting the great icon that make them famous in the world, the concorde. At least they should be replaced it by placing an A380 with BA scheme colors.

Yes I've seen that Concorde several times, its just a short walk away from Hatton Cross tube station. I'm referring to the model that was placed at the roundabout in front of the tunnel entrnace to LHR. Thats dissapeared. I'm going there again today to take some better pics of this A380.
