Exclamation Poor Packaging thread -

I think everyone has recieved atleast one package who was so poorly packed.

I recieved one of those *Model Box Fits Perfect Into The DeliveryBox*

Why can't the seller atleast find a bigger box and put some newspaper on the corners ? The box was squezzed inside this little deliverybox, so tight I had to cut it *like seen on one of the photos*
Only to discover that the model box is so beat up, it almost falling from each other.

Thank you to the one who invented the plastic cradle.
But the cradle didnt save the nosegear.

Username: N/A (You know who you are) can you recognice this box ?

Reminds me of a package I once got from a major retailer of diecast airliners once. Most of my packages from him came in very good shape, but this once had the boxs in that shape, but slightly better. Most likely was UPS who damaged mine, since the packaging was not bad, but normal (planes in a box with the styrofoam thingys in it).

Man, whoever packed your package though sure was either being a cheap-*** and trying to cut corners on his costs or just dosn't know how to pack a package like this properly so it can arrive in good shape.

You know, John...not all sellers have the "collector's" mentality. All they care is about selling a model and make the quick profit. Since I'm a collector myself, whenever I send a model out, I always bubble-wrap the model and surround it with peanut foam or air bags in a bigger shipping box - even for a small model like a 1:400 DW A320 or B737.

I'm not surprised that the nose gear is broken given the beating the box has endured. BB models are known to have fragile nose gears and because of that, some releases came with their nose gear in a separate packaging.

When I got my MH jets I was a bit surprised the MH A333 was not sealed like the 772 and 744 (Hibiscus). Not sure if customs opened the A333 box? Also when I bought the MH A380 (Hogan), completely sealed box, the landing gear inside was broken. Not sure if anyone else has had problems such as this with MH jets?.

Most of the issues I've had with packaging revolve around Canada Customs opening the delivery box to look inside. By the time it arrives at my doorstep, the hack job that they did re-packing the box has resulted in damage.

I have contacted Canada Customs regarding this matter. My understanding of their position is that if the shipper better described the contents of the box, then they would not be required to open it - effectively putting the blame back on the sender. Funny thing is some cases, the description on the Customs Forms clearly explains what's inside - must be at the discretion of the inspector working that day...

Buying domestic is the only way around this issue that I can figure out. However, that can be difficult with the limited availability of some items.

There is a shipping premium from Canada for any box barely larger than the BB box you see above and I mean PREMIUM. I no longer even entertain the thought of buying anything larger than a narrowbody model from Canada for this reason alone.

Nick Said It. 500G (About 1 Pound) To The US Is Near 10.00 But The Minute You Go 1 Gram Over That 500 Mark It's 17.00. 29.00 Over 1,000G, So Basically Doubles Every 500G. & That Is Not Even Priority Mail Or Express.
That Starts At 48.00 For 500g.

I Pack My Models (For 747s Anyway) In A Slightly Larger Than The Model Box Size, But I Pack Well Using Peanuts Inside The Model BoxTo Re-inforce The Gear, Fuselage & Other Strategic Areas To Prevent Crushing Of The Box.
I Also Choose A Heavier Carton.
I've Sent May Like This Even Overseas & No Problem.

Wait unitl you see the new rates. For International it quotes a low rate to the maximum rate based on weight and country. it appears not even a standard rate by weight anymore.

Well since this guy are an experienced seller, apparently after looking trough his thousands of *feedbacks 2500+* for negative feedbacks, those I've found was of poor packaging. I mean he sure got a lot of positive ones but Im surprised to see that the negative feedbacks are of poor packaging. Its like he sold 20 items and I as the 20th buyer happen to be THE one who will have a bad day because the seller didnt packed my package correctly compared to the 19 other buyers.

Well on this case, I can't blame the package-handler, I am disgusted to pay for an item, only to be treated in a way "I dont care, you're just another buyer". Here's your broken item.* All this because of the seller not thinking wise about correct packaging. Okey enough whining from my case.

Talk about being unlucky on this case. I can't see why I shouldnt give him a bad feedback.

When I send trades to England, I'm always requested to send the models in the smallest package I can...which means a challenge for protecting the models. I do the best I can, and so far, I haven't gotten any complaints...and the packages I receive from the UK generally arrive ok. I just can't believe the cost of sending anything outside the US. For the price, they need to bring back the Concordes and refit them as cargo planes...maybe we'd get our models in a reasonable amount of time, too.

It's the opposite situation up here. I could send a BB744 model to you cheaper then what it would cost to send it to the east coast of Canada.

Go figure.

This is why I only sell to the US now. It allows me to package models just how they should be without an unbelievable cost.
