Server Upgrades Complete - W900/DAC should be faster
Some of you probably noticed some server restarts over the past few days. Behind the scenes I've been upgrading our server to the latest and greatest. By this, I don't mean the forum, database, or collection software, but the underling web servers, scripts, php, databases, and system cache.
I've completed the upgrade as of this afternon. We've upgraded Apache to version 2.2, PHP to 5.2.5 and installed a few PHP and Apache modules that will improve system performance. The biggest change came with our PHP caching engine; I switched from Eaccelerator to Xcache. Xcache provides some improvements over the prior and in addition the forums both on Wings900 and DAC now have their system level variables cached in memory rather than constantly being read from disk. You "should" see an improvement, however speed improvements are always perceived by everyone differently. Enjoy! -FD
