Default Iberia A346 accident.

The first for an A346. Will this a/c be written off now:

From the image it doesn't look too bad. Depends on the view of the loss adjusters I guess.

She doesn't look too badly stressed. I'd guess they'll remove the engines where she is and then with the help of airbags they will winch her back up the slope and repair her. What facilities do they have there ?

Well, the close-up pics don't look too good as there's major damage to the port WTB fairing:

I don't think this aircraft will ever fly again number 2 engine has twisted the wing if you look closely, and so has number 1 engine.

Thats amazing that will be one big repair. I am an aircraft engineer and I have seen a lot less damage right off aircraft before. But then again some companies will pay anything to fix the aircraft so that they don't have a lost aircraft on their record.

Thanks for the film clip. Great to see professionals at work. I guess the recovery was not so bad if the aircraft was only a little way off the concrete.

How many days between original incident and final recovery ?

I wish I could spanish.

The the Quito Airport director say they want to take advantage of daylight to move the plane to the runway and later at 00:00 move it to the air force base.

After he say all the flights will take off on runway 35 and land on 17.

Sorry for my english...

Three weeks...
But it's logical. They have had to wait for the end of the investigation, a new landing gear, heavy equipment to move it, technicians from Airbus and IB, lighten the plane 180 Tons and Verify that a service tunnel which passes through this area does not need to be strengthened... buffff a lot of work!!!

I wish I could english

Un abrazo Graham!

I Read this morning in "Aviación comercial" a spanish magazine...

Finally IB write off the EC-JOH, some operations are too much complicated to carry out them in Quito. IB has decided to cannibalize it...

I'm not surprised at all.

And to think that people somewhere here on DAC thought it could be flown out from Quito to another airport in the area (that handles MRO hauls)
