Default A380 operators and Sydney Airport?

With the recent arrival of the Singapore Airlines A380 to Sydney, I was wondering what other airlines (apart from Qantas) will be operating this aircraft into Sydney in the future????

Although A380's range doesn't quite make it a non-stop flight, but with one-stop, BA & VS are possible. Also, don't forget about other Asia-Pacific A380 operators - TG, MH & KE.

You think? How about a weblink to your source? Until then, I'll trust the info provided on Airbus "Orders & Deliveries" page for now.

Not when they will lose their almost $100M deposit with Airbus. Either that, or they can pick up a few new A330-300s - each with $10M discount. It's no-brainer to me but I'm still interested to see where 'Shanghai' got his/her news from.

I don't remember exactly where, but I think it was the Shanghai Daily. Maybe I mistaked it for TG considering to cancel orders. Anyways, I'll stick with what you guys think. You guys are the experts.

Just checked on Google, and it says that Thai could still cancel their orders. Sorry about the trouble.

Yes, considering to cancel! That's what I read too and it makes a whole lot of difference from cancelling the order itself. Sometimes, airlines like to use leverage by considering to cancel to score deeper discounts for future orders and/or compensation for the delay.

Yah, sorry about all this. It also makes sense now that you explain it to me. Thanks. Also, I think that the A380 is neat, but I wouldn't want to come into customs 5 minutes after one lands.

No need to apologise twice Shanghai. I thought your first apology worked just fine.

When Singapore Airlines get their second A380 (in January) will they still keep the regular SIN-SYD service SQ220-SQ221, or will these occassionally be B744's again if they start deploying the A380's elsewhere... or will this only happen once they get three or so to be able to use them on other longer haul routes?

SQ will still dedicate an A380 for the SIN-SYD-SIN route. They will take delivery of their 2nd and 3rd A380 early next year and those aircraft will be used on the SIN-LHR-SIN route. Their 4th A380 will be deployed on the SIN-NRT-SIN route in May 2008. SQ's 5th and 6th will be deployed on the SIN-HKG-SFO-HKG-SIN route later next year. This is according to SQ's CEO in one of the video clips on this site: A380 Delivery

Thanks for that info D-AIHC, that's good to know there'll still be one coming into Sydney. At the moment though I'm finding I can't get a flight on the A380 to Singapore when I have leave

Ah well... hopefully I'll fly on her one day!

That's because every SQ pax going to SIN is requesting for that particular flight.

It's on 'proving trials', manufacturer speak for showing it off to current and prospective customers, It was in the US last week, being shown to Northwest.
