jansonw

I got those GLASS BLACK INDIVIDUAL DISPLAY CASE from a San Francisco local model shop which they don't have a web site nor accept any mail order. Those case are square shape 13" by 13" & 6" in height so they are perfect for 744 but it can't fit a CX 773 or CX A346 as the fuselage are too long. They don't have it in stock regularly, I bought it at around US$15.

I'm now even thinking about to get a plastic case from Japan instead of glass case as they are less in weight & not easy to fall apart. Some of my old glass case had been falling apart as each of the edge of the glue had lost its sticky function. But right now I can't locate the soruce / store where in Japan are selling it. I only saw once in Tokyo when my last visit in Sep 2006.

hmmm. the largest hobby stores here in san fran are Franciscan Hobbies and The Hobby Co. both of which arent all that great! any of those ring a bell diecaster?

Theres a custom plastic store here in san fran somewhere too. Im sure they can make alot of things for cheap out of plexiglass. even if they dont plastic is so easy to glue together with some plastic cement.

I think there is a need for a database of pictures of boxes. Lately I have been receiving models from members in this forum in the wrong boxes.

Kitanium,

Here is a link for you.

thanks diecaster! looks great! u live in UK huh? did u bring them display boxes yourself from SF? if so, isn't that huge? wow.

i am trying to get acrylic display for 12.44" x 10.87" x 5.32". i measured my B747s and i think it may very well be able to fit BARELY. if not, i will just display B772 alone. B722 + A300 together. B732 + A300 together. AND have B747 on top of those two stacked display boxes. We'll see how it goes.

i have 2 Herpa Premium display boxes (D-AIHC always warned me about getting them cracked during transit, lol. i still remember that, hehe, thanks D-AIHC u r a good friend!)

anyway, those Herpa Premium display cases are not that great, since those are NOT STACKABLE! nasty! useless! ALSO, they have rough sides. that have square raises, so you can't really see from sides... AND it's EXPENSIVE! lol!

It's a no-brainer - most cities in California have a prefix of "San" or "Santa". Also, I have been to KSFO and San Bruno isn't too far from it. So is Milbrae!

Yeah, that's how I found out too - through the website. Nevertheless, I have not been to the shop personally. I heard that most of the rare models are either "reserved" or "not for sale". So, what's the point of going?

Where can you find those? If the seller or vendor can customise the case, it'll be great!

No worries, Jason! Like you, I have two of those cases. I was warned by a retailer but I still took my chances and one came with a small crack. I warned you and you took your chances and you got a cracked case too. Yeah, too bad those are not stackable and a little expensive but other than that, they are fine!

I have a rather colorful "box" to show,
