Lightbulb Russian Collector's Club start up.

Hey all,

Those here in YYZ land may remember the Official "Aeroflot Club". Well, I, with official blessings and help from 2 airlines and Official Russian Government interest, would like to start up again an organization for those who have a special interest and collection of Russian Aviation items. I have nearly 250 models, and hundreds of pictures, magazines, books, and so on, and with my recent post looking for more aircraft for my collection, have met many people with some great items. As well, there are many people who have personal knowledge and working history in Russian aerospace. I say..Let's get together on line (and maybe one day at a convention even) and start up a club.

Ideas welcome. I think for now, we just basically form something, list our collections, and maybe a little bio on ourselves, with pics and so on?

Let me know!!!

Jon in Canada

I also like Soviet-era commercial airliners. I keep looking on eBay for one of those Solido TU 104s and hope to eventually find a TU 134 larger than the 1:500 scale which Herpa manufactures. Can't seem to find a non-plastic Yak 40 either. I seriously like Soviet jets from the 50s - 70s and am very pleased that Gemini Jets began to manufacture 1:400 IL-62s.

I can tell u where you can find diecast metal Russian aircraft models. Including YAK-40 and YAK-42, Antonov AN-26 & 24s, Ilushian, Yupolev and others. They are not cheap though. Check out theie selection CAM Collector Aircraft Models in the UK.

I know what you mean about CAM prices Jorge. I purchased a BA Trident from them. Should have waited until they became available here. Do you know of any other US distributers you might carry these more obscure Soviet-era aircraft. Just saving on S&H would probably be worth it. Thanks.

I used to be a member of this Russian club when it initially started years ago, i sort of lost track with it but now with help of internet and this site, i would like to re-join the club Jon.
Now where can i get models of An-225 with or without Buran!, i need 400 scale and 1/100 scale with stand to go on my B/N DSL projection TV coming soon.
