Hi all!
I'm really interested in acft models and I want to start collecting them ![]() My first model is a Shaback Singapore/BA Concorde... This is not a great model, but it was the only available in the shop I went, and I like it I'm now searching for another one, but I'm really confused about all the brands, the qualityes and finishings, so I want you to help me I have seen the phoenix freedom of space 777. It's a good model or not? And another question... Somebody knows about any shop in spain with web page? I don't want to pay 10€ for shipping... ![]() Thanks and greetings from GCLP!!!! |

Welcome to DAC, hope you enjoy yourself here. Biggest rule of thumb...collect what you like. If it looks good to you, get it and don't worry about public opinion, you'll always find somebody who will be critical of whatever it is that you're interested in. If you want to be choosy, though, just read through the different threads of this forum, and you'll start to get an idea of the real quality items vs the dogs. Or post a desired model, and you'll get comments, trust me. As to buying from Europe in general, shipping is expensive, and the wait can be long. Lots of local US distributers with big inventories, many Canadian ones too...a little cheaper and better delivery times. Try Jet Obssession, Diecast Runway, Air Paradigm, Airline Museum, Skyrail, or my distributer, PSALover here at DAC (AKA Dave's Diecast or StLouisDiecast) for starters, all excellent distributers. Good luck and enjoy the hobby.

If you're in LPA, try websites like: AviationMegastore.com Orders with postal address in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy (excl. San Marino),Luxembourg, Monaco, Spain (excl. Canary Islands), United Kingdom (excl. Gibraltar & Channel Islands): € 8,40 plus 5% of ordertotal (subject to 19% sales tax; maximum total shipping charge € 50,00 per order) I also use this one: www.dutch-telesale.nl See this thread: Wings900 - New Preferred Retailer for the EU Bye, Chris. |

hi The_snack,
first check you pocket and room .. check what kind of scale you like and how much money you can spend ... scale 600 or 500 maybe financial possible , scale 400 you need more money and lot more of storing space ! If it helps look into OPPERMANN aircraft models | Schabak Collectibles Scale 1:600 I dont know if a web-shop available in spain ... dosn´t matter... shipping cost allways involved |

Buy cheaply on eBay, then shipping is not so much a factor.

Hi fellow flyers! Just discovered this site and did NOT know that there are so many of you guys around! D'OH! I feel at home now
Keep up the great work, all you guys!Been an avid fan of fighters since I was a kid but only recently discovered a brand worth collecting (at a hefty price no doubt, i got conned). Where I'm from there's not much to choose from so it's hard to get a price comparison. The retailers like to slaughter. At least it introduced me to Witty Wings. I got my 2nd piece from eBay for much less and am thrilled. Can't wait to get more but sadly the brand has a rather limited array of models to choose from. Can anyone give me pointers on similar 1:72 manufacturers with that kind of quality or better? I love all classic and modern fighters, currently looking for Mustangs, Luftwaffes, Spitfires, Sabres and hopefully a Spirit or F117. Anything! I'm open to suggestions and recommendations! I have heard of Corgi and been wondering if the stuff is good. Please enlighten, fellow aviators! Cheers! |

Most of the fighter model producers have their good and not so good points...Corgi is a good option, they've gone away from the toylike to more accurate reproductions. Dragon Warbirds is another good option, lots of selections and decent models. Gemini Aces is another, and you've found Witty Wings. Best bet; buy what you like, from any of the manufacturers, then compare...

Thanks Steve. Will try out the brands you recommended. Have seen quite a few of them on eBay so I can bet on those. Happy collecting!
