1:144 scale decals.

Hello all!

This is a few quick questions on behalf of my husband Ben.

He is looking for 1:144 scale decals for C-130`s and Beoing 707`s.
He would prefer military markings such USAF KC-135 etc for the boeing and early RAF C-130 Decals,where can he order them from?

He is a fairly good kit builder,but the next few projects he wants 100% perfection using Corgi 1:144 scale models as a base.

Also...what to use for masking when painting at this scale,and how to use it and where to get it?....
.....(he wants to keep the cockpit windows).

Sorry for the questions,but the only forums he deals with are for 1:1 scale!

Try squadron.com for Squadron Mail Order products. they have an extensive list of 1/144 decals and photo-etch, as well as a bunch of other hobby goodies. Very reasonably priced, and quick delivery.

a great mail order shop,and we will be ordering some bits and pieces...
....but no decals that my husband needs for his current projects.

Should anybody know where to order 1:144,Military 707/RC OR KC135,and any C-130 decals.

Advice on masking models also needed.

Emma, with regard to 1/144 decals for early RAF Hercules' you are probably out of luck. I model a lot in 1/144 and I'm not aware of any. All is not lost, however, because these markings are rather generic and can be improvised from decals intended for other scales, particualrly 1/72. Extradecal and Modeldecal have produced a variety of 1/72 decal sheets of roundels, fin flashes, numbers and letters. A 4 inch number or letter in 1/72 is the same as an 8 inch character in 1/144. The variety of roundel sizes also means that you can get an exact (or nearly so) equivalent of a 1/144 roundel on a 1/72 sheet. This is particuarly true when you are dealing with a large aircraft like the Hercules. A company called Model Art also produced a few 1/144 decal sheets about 10 or so years ago. These included RAF letters and numbers in black and white as well as lo-vis roundels. With a little hunting around you may find a retailer who still has some.

Thank you for that bit of information/tip.
He has been looking through some decals that he has and has found enough aprox the right size for his WC-130 "snoopy" project.
He has found on the internet that there is something/product called Liquid Masking.
Has anybody used it?
Would it be any good for masking up the windows on a Corgi C-130?
