Default gemini chrome stands

the gemini chrome stands have to be the worst conceived idea. the stands are never compatiabe with the hole on the model. i have been told anything from filing the tip down to using soap. why can't the best diecast company come up with a customer friendly stand. please give me your opinions. i just got a continental 787 and i wanted to put it on a stand but i could not fit it into the hole

Had a friend that used to complain about the same thing except he wasn't talking about diecast toys or chrome stands.

How would soap help with getting a plane to stay on a stand? I'm seriously curious about that one.

the soap helps to get the stand tip into the hole of the gj which usually is not wide or deep enough.
