Question Spotting in SIN(Changi International Airport)

I have been to Changi Airport oodles of times. I also been to the beach where youu can get excellent view of planes coming over your head and performing a graceful landing. The viewing mall in Terminal 1 has a view of a runway, which I think it 02C? Is it? Well, I heard that there is another viewing mall in Terminal 2. I have not been there. I doubt that there is a viewing mall in Termianl 2 as I been there in the purpose of going to the viewing mall to see the planes. But, despite going all floors, I could'nt find the viewing mall in Terminal 2. I never actually seen a plane take-off from the outside. I only been on them a couple of times with Singapore Airlines Boeing 747-412 and Indian Airlines A320. I have seen ones which have taken off but they were already starting to disappear into the clouds.
My questions are:

1)Where do I find a Terminal 2 viewing mall, if there is one?
2)Where do I find planes taking off?(Including viewing malls)
3)Is there any other way that I could take good pictures of planes, other than the Changi Beach, Viewing Mall(T1 & T2).

Cheers,
Boeing_744

Hi Boeing_744,

The Terminal 1 Viewing Hall is still available at the moment, and the runway which you may see at Terminal 1 Viewing Hall is 02L and is not 02C. 02C is located at Terminal 2.

As for Terminal 2 Viewing Hall, I guess you have to be disappointed. It has been replaced with Restaurants, such as Indonesia Restaurant, Food Courts, Chinese Restaurant, Japanese Restaurant, and etc. Terminal 2 Viewing Hall has a great view and the area capacity is very huge, I guess it is because of these reasons, the management of Changi Airport Terminal 2 has decided to switch it to restaurants. This has made the airport earn some rentals since many Singaporean take this airport as part of their shopping mall...

You still may view Terminal 2 at the Car Park which next to the Airport Staffs' canteen. You may ask the airport staff if you wish to know where is it. At the car park, you may also be to view the new Terminal 3 which still in construction site and part of Terminal 1 as well. Of course, you may only view when the aircraft took off, but not the whole view include the runway, extended terminal, aircraft parking, and etc...

Beside viewing at the airport, you still may view the aircrafts at the East Coast beach which near the Club (No bus reach this place, unless you don't mind walking a long distance from the bus stop (Bus service number 36 from airport) which may take you about a hour to reach there. It will be good if you have a car to reach there. The next venue is the Nicoll Drive (Called as Changi beach, alight at the jetty's stop, just the opposite the Changi International Exhibition Centre, Take bus service number 9 from Bedok Bus Terminal, 19 from Tampines Bus Terminal, and 89 from Hougang Bus Terminal).

Good luck!

Regards,
Airlines

Yeah, the viewing mall was down with restaurants what's left now was only T1 viewing mall. But don't be disappointed, when the new airport is done you can take loads of photos of aircrafts because the new airport DOES NOT! have a jetway so you will board it with the ground service equipments and you can touch the aircraft too.i have seen the blue print of that airport. It is quite a small and simple one.i think smaller than seletar airport but very beautiful.

That's bad..Are people all about eating?! They could have taken away some other places instead of Terminal 2 viewing mall! Well, thanks for the information guys! Better hurry for some spotting before SIA retires it's 747-400 fleet! Just can't get a shot of a SIA 747-412!! I managed to grab a far shot of 9V-SPP..The STAR ALLIANCE scheme aircraft. I can't even see the titles.! It is all white except for the tail!

You may want to go on Airliners.net and do a search for photographer Sam Chui, he is an expert in photos at Changi and also Sydney to name a few. Drop him an email and I am sure he will be happy to help you with your questions. I have met him and he is a very nice and talented guy.

The A380 has arrived at Changi Airport this morning at 9.24 am. It is parked at F31 which is the last holding bay of T2. You won't be able to see it from T2 because the T2 viewing gallery has been converted into restaurants. The only viewing gallery is at T1 which offers a view of runway 02L.
Alternatively, you could drive along Nicoll Drive where you can view aircraft landing and taking off from runway 02R.

There is a Viewing Mall T2 in SIN. It is really small..and you can only get to see Gate F31 and F32 properly. You have to check in to get a better view.(It is below the T2 viewing mall) T2 viewing mall is near the Presca Fresca or whatever the shop name is. I took pictures of the A380 there. I cannot belive that I wasted 27 exposures at T2. After, I went to T1 and cheered up as Boeing 747-400s were landing BA,SQ,QF and KL. Well, I will be going to T1 Viewing mall tomorrow. If you look at the adverisement posted outside the T2 skytrain station, you can see on the Level three section...you can see that Viewing Mall is written there.

A great way to fly,

Default A380

The A380 was parked at F31. From the T2 viewing gallery, you have to look through two layers of glass - the glass panel of the viewing gallery and that of the transit area. As it was in the afternoon, there was a sun-shade covering 3/4 of the transit area glass panel. Nevertheless, it was a good view of the aircraft. I also managed to take some photos of the giant aircraft. Here is a picture taken from Nicoll Drive with zoom lens.
