Okay, you want some guidance? First of all spell stuff correctly. And also try to make you post make sense. It is almost as bad as talking to a 10 year old.

Are you speaking in regards to the infamous Rolls-Royce 'Merlin' engine? Used in the British Hawker Hurricane and US P-51 fighters?

Hello Tomcat,
Welcome to DieCast Aircraft Forum. This website is mostly about model aircraft made of metal by the diecast method. The models are usually of civilian airliners and a few large military ones such as cargo, patrol and refueling tanker planes. Sometimes you will read things that seem have nothing to do with model planes, somethings that you don't understand, but don't worry because a lot of us don't understand it either. It is often members argueing with each other and using this forum to do it!
In regard to your question about the Rolls Royce Merlin engine, it is famous because it was used in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s to power many famous British planes, mostly military such as the Spitfire and Hurricane fighters and the Lancaster bomber during World War 2. It was also manufactured in the USA and used on the famous P51 Mustang fighter aeroplane. Other aircraft, both British and American, used it too. When the war was over a few airliners used it because it was easily available and there were many technicians around who knew how to fix it.
The engine was a very advanced design for its time and was developed greatly during its life. It was very reliable, so pilots trusted it with their lives which probably is one reason why it is so loved.
Another reason is the sound of a Merlin. It is a truly wonderful sound to hear, quite different from other old piston engines from that time.
I hope this has given you some useful answers to your question.
Best wishes
Dave

Just a question Rammstein. How can you be an aviation enthusiast living in England, and not know what a Merlin engine is?? One of the most famous engines ever built, if it was not for the Merlin engine, there is a good chanch you would be speaking German right now instead of English

Right! I just could not figure it out. He has access to some of the finest air museums in the world right in his backyard (Hendon,Cosford,Duxford etc.) with more Merlins and Merlin powered aircraft around then you can shake a stick at...Oh well..you can lead a horse to water..but you cant make him drink!

I know most people do not have perfect english. I take shortcuts all the time in life. But I would like it if you tried to fix your grammar a little more.

Sorry Guys, the reason why i don't know what a Merlin engine is because i have never heard of it. I don't tend to go to museums. All i do is spotting and collecting.

I don't need to travel far for my concorde. I only have to go four miles. They are doing special tours on it for £10.00 a head at Manchester Airport Viewing Centre.

If you ever have the opportunity to see a Mustang or Spitfire in action at an airshow don't miss it..The unforgettable music you hear will be coming from the 'Magnificent Merlin'.

At an airshow I once saw a P-51 and an A-10 flyin' together. Sweet sight might I say.

If you've never heard of the Merlin I'm guessing names like Mitchell, Chadwick, De Havilland, Camm and Whittle mean nothing either? Sad that air enthusiasts in the UK have so little interest in our aviation heritage
