BEST decal paper for color laser printers???

I'm sure this topic may have been covered, but forgive as I couldn't find anything in a quick search.

If I am to print my own custom decals using my XEROX Phaser 6180 color laser printer, does anyone have a good recommendation for which brand of clear decal paper I should use?

The best I could find is this one at DecalPaper.com ... if anyone has any other recommendations that may be better than this option, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

My goal is to create a custom UPS 747 like this one with a Hasegawa 1/200th scale kit ... thanks so much in advance!

Cal Bel Decal in Miami. They have good laser and ink jet stuff. I use it extensively. Now that color copies are 49 cents and the office supply stores have gotten smart and switched back to Xerox copiers, it is cheaper than using them at home. I go through probably 500 sheets a year of all types.

how u gonna make a -400F from a hasegawa kit? thats alot of modding isnt it?

Not quite sure ... I have an old Air Force One model which I was going to cobble up, and then get some -400 wings from somewhere else, maybe a Hogan ... not too fussy ... just wanted the general look of the scheme ...

remember that classics have different wing root flarings than -400s

I use "microscale trim film" It's been working pretty well so far. They have one clear sheet for most stuff, and another white sheet for white parts.

However I can tell you right now that that white reg. no. is going to be a real pain in the @$$ if you don't have any means of printing white. The gradiant in the corner of the UPS shield my also be a bit of a problem too...

Good luck though however you decide to do it!

I tried the Bel Decal waterslide paper for laser jet printers and it worked great. It doesn't curl at the edges at all, comes off the paper easily, and the translucence is minimal. Big sheets 8 1/2 X 11 are about a buck a peice, quick shipping too.

My local UPS store had a laser jet printer that did a beautiful job, but the laser jet printer at the local FedEx store melted the paper, so call and ask about printing on decal paper before you make the trip!

For a 1/200 747-400F from Hasegawa kit....buy one 747-200 and one 747-400, cut the front upper park of the fuselage and put the -200 ones on the -400, then you have a 747-300 and a 744F!

Sorry for being so late in this thread, but why not just use one of the three existing 744F moulds?

Inflight 200, Rise Soon and Hogan have that mould!!??

I've tried a lot of different decal papers and I think they are about the same. The only thing to think about is the size of the paper, as US and the rest of the world uses a different paper size standard.
