1/200 Embrear 120 Brasilia
This is my latest work.
Embraer 120 is my favorite turboprop aircraft. I've been searching high and low but no luck in getting a model of Brasilia, especially in 1/200 scale. So I decided to make it.
This is my first time making my own airframe and decal. I use balsa wood to make the model and I print my own decal. The props are made out of aluminum cut out.
Here's the outcome

I've made 3, but 2 completed in Continental Connection livery. 2 different livery style, which is one is with title under the windows (operated by Skywest), the other one has the title over the windows (Operated by Gulfstream).
Here's more picture

The basic main part, cut out from a piece of balsa.

Parts been put together.

This is the scale diagram. Scale down to 200 scale on my computer and printed out in 200 scale.

The assembly line. With one completed, the one in the middle to be add prop and gears and the silver one at the back will be painted in Skywest livery.

Both Continental Connection completed

Since my terminal to come will be a hub for Continental, they make good addition to my commuter terminal. With commuter plane, it will give some busy looking atmosphere.
It's not really and excellent work since it's my first time, but give me some comment so I can do any improvement.
Thanks for viewing
Azuddin

Some of my friend here do make that request. Make balsa kit available for sale. Maybe I will one day.
When I'm back in Houston, maybe I can make it possible since balsa is quiet cheap at Hobby Lobby and even Wal-Mart stock them up. Here in Malaysia, balsa is expensive.

That is a great piece of craftsmanship!
If only we could see the same dedication to bringing us the Brasilia (as well as a host of other smaller regional aircraft) from some of the diecast manufacturers.

Fantastic job Azzudin. Very well done.
I have this Brasília model 1:72 scale made by a brazilian manufacturer in balsa too and love it.
Also I have another Brasília 1:100 scale ordered from Embraer store that must arrive tomorow. Will post pics later.

Thanks Doc. Yeah, I'm really expecting someone to make the brasilia. Maybe JetX make it in 200 scale.

Re: 1/200 Embrear 120 Brasilia
I ordered by phone and e-mail. The guy there told me the store eletronic address is under construction. Now I am not at home but tomorrow I will post pics of the models in another thread here.
By the way, the Embraer store was found by a DAC fellow member "The airplane guy". He told me the phone number / e-mail address and I contact the guy.

Re: 1/200 Embrear 120 Brasilia
Just want to share, the third Brasilia just rolled out. This one is wearing Skywest livery.
This one actually using the first prototype mould which don't turn out as good as the Continental Connection pair.
Let me know what you guys think.

Re: 1/200 Embrear 120 Brasilia
Wow, you should be very proud of your work. Others complain about what they cannot buy; you just went and made a beautiful version for yourself, with hard work.
If I had to make a suggestion, it would be in the painting; it doesn't look quite straight in some places. The yellow line should be very thin. And the colors on the engine don't quite match the tail, maybe because it's a different material. Maybe some primer will help with that? The engine was sometimes painted white, if that's easier.
But I only give a couple criticism to help from my eye, maybe; I am not a craftsman. You should be very happy to see this model completing your airport scene. It is a masterpiece, I think.

carving it out from wood is pretty much most of the works. The props are metal though, made out of recycled Coke can cut out.

thanks for pointing that out Anon, appreciate the comment.
Yes it is, the engine color is a bit different then the blue on the tail. The engine is painted, while the color on the tail is decaled.
