Default 1:200 Risesoon EVA Air Airbus a340-600 B-16346 FANTASY

yep another project started before the others have finished! dont worry they will all be finished in due time. I'm just getting all my birds readied up to the decal stage. then when i design my decals and get them printed, a mass of birds will exit the evergreen hangar at once!

another fantasy bird will join the eva ranks in my fleet! and a risesoon bird had to sacrifice itself for the cause. a first time at the eva hangar where a risesoon bird was sacrificed.

house colors a346 sacrificed (red dots you will see on the fuselage in these pics are where antenna will be)

creating little antenna bumps

corrogard on the wings painted. will be removing the blue on the winglets and applying the eva colors on it

im addicted to CHROME!!!!

look how it shines! i sanded the seam lines off of each engine and reprimered them, added the vortex generator/stab too.

a prefitting...looks awesome!

Well there's no doubting Kai that whatever model you touch turns to gold, but don't let it get to your head too much ok??

keeping it tame here to inspire others to start so that they can in turn inspire me back, i dont intentionally ever want glory to myself.

AHA!! I had a feeling it was Alclad. Can't wait to see the finished model. Did EVA ever operate the A346?

nope they didnt and they wont =). they got the B773ER! plus i dont think those RR engines will cooperate nicely in their all GE lineup (minus the IAE a320s but those are leased anyways) and EGAT maintenance center

The MD-11's I'm waiting for too, especially the cargo version. I was this close to picking up the 744F when suddenly it dawned on me that HG will be doing the M11, so I put it back. The A320 would be nice to have though. I think it was Tapmiester who showed us that sample pic.

The A346 is a great aircraft its incredibly long but how many airlines actually have them , not many airlines ordered them and some of them never seemed to complete the deal and airlines who do have them now seem to be getting rid of them, Qatqar being one .
There arent many A346 made in 1:400 and i would like to see more, 380 seats isnt that near close to the 747 although it never seemed to be as popular.

why do you think this was?

i looked on the Airbus order sheet cause i was really bored one day and Air Canada ordered the A346 aswell but so far nothing has come of it.

They too like Emirates, have abandoned the A346s and gone for the Boeing 777s instead.

yep i see the boeing 777 as a direct competitor. 2 engines has got to be more efficient than 4 regardless if the a346 has more range(?)

Yeah, a GE90 burns more fuel than one of the Trents on the A346, but when you have two of them compared to four of the RR's you burn less.

In a sense, yes. the 77W Uses the GE90, the largest and most powerful jet engine. On the 772 and ER, the airlines have an option of RR, PW, or GE.

This will the last update for awhile as this bird has reached decal stage. will take me a couple weeks to design and crank out decals so enjoy the shots for now!

added the antenna, swapped out main wheels for hogan metal wheels, swapped out front nasty risesoon gear strut (have you noticed how horrendous risesoon a330/a340 front struts are??) for an all hogan strut and wheel.

got a couple of nasty areas not really shown in these pics that i have to clean up but otherwise its just waiting for decals now!

as mentioned before, chromed up the engines. fan blades are chrome with a touch of smoke black to give it a dark black appearance but still shine.

one of the wings were gulled, the other wasnt...nice quality control risesoon. nice.

top of green line may be too low, but i guess i will work with what i got.

Nice custom there, I`ll be posting pics of a few 1/200 scale that I`m currently working on right now, I just cannot or forget to take pics of the process when I`m working on them, I get way too excited when concentrated

Lets not have our cake and eat it too and just be glad that RS/SM produces the A346 that most people like us can easily buy. To date, HG has not produced a single A346 that is available 'off the shelf' for retail sale at a reasonable price. Below is how and where the HG A346 mould was utilised:

QR=Exclusive to the airline.
TG=Extemely limited numbers made for HE, and often overpriced and hard to find.
LH=Exclusive for LH Worldshop. The few on e-bay again selling for high prices.
LH=Made for HE. Again selling for high prices when available.
CX=Made for HE and exclusive for CXcitement and expensive to buy.

On the other hand, you can find the RS/SM versions available at most retailers in a variation of Airbus house colors, VS, LH and SAA and often at quite a reasonable price.

As for the A345, the only time HG used that fantastic mould was for their favourite AC version. The mould has since been sitting dormant. RS/SM released it in the Airbus livery as well as EK, SIA, TG and AC.
