Default New TriStar project

Jup, placed an order for an Airfix 1:144 TriStar-kit from the US. Also got the Delta "Widget" livery. Got the kit right before christmas, so i`ve done some work on it already. This kit isnt the most accurate unfortunately, so a little customization has to be done.
The nose-section doesnt even look close to the real Tristar:

Done som work on it, and i think i`m closer now:

Other than that, i think it looks pretty right:

Also used some parts from my last 747-200 and added interior:

This also had to be slightly modified since the fuselage on the 747 is both wider and longer. I know the interior wont show when i am done, but fun to know that i have it
Will post more on my progress as it developes.
Thanks for watching
Frank

You're off to a great start, Frank! You're definitely right about the TriStar nose.

The Airfix kits run hot and cold. Your nose is looking good. I was considering doing a Hawaiian version with this model.
The interior will never be seen after the fuseloge half are cemmented together. Maybe build it as a seperate display and detail the heck out of it with custom made parts and add passengers!

Just a comment---check the number of flap-track fairings. I think Airfix put 1 too many on the wings.

Too bad you could not get ahold of an Otaki L-1011. Those kits are awesome.

Thank you for your comments. I have plans for passengers, ground-crew and vehichles, i am planning a diorama when i am done with the TriStar. So the main entrance and cargo-doors will be left in open position.

David Hingtgen: Thank you for that tip, will check it out

Hello. Done some work on the TriStar. Fuselage almost finished, just some details i have to add first, cargo doors and some detail-painting.
Gears and wings are not finished yet, but will be soon.

By the next shots, this bird will be finished. Now i am starting to work on the diorama also. But buildings in 1:144 will be a challenge
Thanks for watching

cant you really see the interior from those tiny windows? if you can put in some lights in there that would make all the difference!

but i know this is going to be a great build coming from you!

Thank you for all your kind replies Yes, 1:144 is pretty big, but i am not building an entire airport, just the TriStars parkingspace with all the service-vehicles, passengers and a part of an airport-building in front I think it will be cool. But i will create a separate thread for that, here i`m consentrating on this Lockheed L-1011

Nice job, if I remember correctly the bulk cargo door in the very rear opened inward not outward like you have.....it pushed up and in and then there was an inside door cover that pushed up and inward over the cargo door. That keep the bulk items from falling out the door or blocking the door from being pushed upward....

Not sure if he messed up but I have been looking at the cargo loader in the forward section for quite some time...
