Just finished this Aloha Airline's 1/144 scale 737-497 model.
![]() Aloha bought two of these in 1992 but they didn't stay around the Islands very long because they were just too big for inter-island service. Enjoy the Pics.. |

Thanks and Mahalo guys! This was a pretty easy build.
Yes, it's a DACO kit with Liveries Unlimited decals. I had to substitute -200 decals though because I couldn't get any -400 anywhere. I also used Tamiya Insignia White spray can for Boeing gray and am happy with the way it turned out. This is one airplane I never flew at Aloha. Back then glass cockpit was a new thing and I took one look at it and ran the other way and stayed in the -200. Years later, when I checked out in the -700, I really got to love the glass cockpit, can't beat it. Next build is this....... ![]() |

I had the privilege of buying Chris and Jack Bates' custom 1/400 edition of the Aloha Pacific DC-10. It is a must for an Aloha collection.

Excellent works ZUBART with the additional detailing, love it.
You said you used Tamiya Insignia White for the Boeing Gray. Is it that much off white to substitute as a gray? Let me know. Please keep posting your future projects also. ![]() |

Thanks again guys!
The Tamiya (AS-20) Insignia White (US Navy) does appear light gray on the model and I actually like it better than the Tamiya Light Gray Primer I was using for Boeing Gray. It is a shade light, but I think it works. A builder in another Forum gave me that tip. Even my diecast airplanes from different manufactures had different shades of Boeing Gray when I compared them. There's not many pictures on the internet of this bird, actually zero. If anybody finds any, let me know. I'm going to run by Aloha Maintenance and see if I can get some painting spec's/pictures. |

Just saw a photo in one of the Airliner Magazines of Aloha Cargo 737-200. Looks like you need to do that one plus the one with the Lei. Also the Wyland bird! Nice fleet.

Thanks.
I have been thinking about a CARGO bird too. Would have to order up some custom decals. But, after I finish the DC-10, I'll start on a MidPac YS-11! Taking a little break from the 737's. |
