Default To fill or not to fill

I got my second Hasegawa 773 ANA, since my first one was a disaster. What do you guys think. Should I fill the holes or leave them open. which looks best? Also, If I fill it, should I use basic tamyia Putty, or just glue? thanks for the help!

Thanks guys. Kai, I don't even think you would want to have them. The only things that are "OK" are the verticle stabalizers. I'm still going keep it though, since I will have 2 ANA.

Well, The fuselage, I rushed through. it didn't look that bad, but not the greatest. The decals were miserable. The windows were peeling, at least one door on either side came off, and still, after 2 weeks, if the stripes get like bumped or scratched, they peel. anyone wanna show me how they think is the easiest way of applying decals? That would be a HUGE help.

Materiels needed: Small paint brush, cup-o-water, toothpick, setting solution(as seen in Modeling prt. 1), patience!

1. Cut the decal as liked out of the decal sheet.
2. Dip decal in water for 10 secs. Then put decal on paper towel and spread water on top of it. Wait 30 more secs.
3. Spread setting solution where decal is to be placed(instructions on back of the bottle of solution).
4. Gently slide the decal off of the backing with a small to medium paint brush. Once decal is on model, take toothpick and hold decal in place while you slide the rest of the decal with the brush on the model.
5. Adjust decal fast while it is still damp. Read solution instructions.
6. Enjoy the result!
Hope I could be of help.
Regards

I have seen models that have been unfilled in s hops, they look amazing, the shop owner told me he used a trim down plastic tape to pae over the windows and then carefully blocked out the windows for painting, and then removed it.

But if you perfer a hogan type look, then block them out. But for him, that was the main reason why he didn't fill the windows as he said, if you have a filled window plane, then why not just buy a hogan model?

i have a feeling you like to rush through things. take it slowly. and by slowly i mean take 1 day to sand the fuselage joints down, take another to fill the gaps with putty, take another to do the landing gear, etc.

making a model is like enjoying your food. rushing through one will leave you with upchuck.

Point taken, but I can understand where he is going though, picture this, you have a diaorama of the plane being boarded in an airport, and you seen blocked out windows, wouldn't you been slightly put off? So close for the set to look real yet failing in one point.

I know what you mean. It just doesn't fill your desire of detail, and the quality time you have spent on your model kit. You can't replace that with a ready made premade. Is that where you were trying to go at?

a bit...but i was just referring to just the ANA 773 here. hogans version cost some $100+ to get it wheres you can build your own for cheaper.

yea i cover up my windows to match my hogans. but another point, this from selier's models from the cafe. he builds awesome models so im not bashing his stuff at all just using his pic as a case in point
when looking from an angle at the jet with unfilled windows, it looks rather awkward dont you think? when looking at a real jetliner from this angle you would at least see gray where the windows are. to get around this problem whether you fill the windows in with clear glue or whatever, you would need to individually and carefully paint the sides of the windows (or the thickness of the plastic body)= with a silver outline seen on hogans. another reason why i fill mine in and use the decals. almost looks like the ana 773 waves has no windows! to get around it one would need to paint the interior black too. i suppose that isnt hard, and ill try it on one build in the near future just to see how it goes.

just a pet peev =)

that is exactly what I would do, time consuimg? Hell yes! But it would turn out took look great. And then seal up the windows with plastic tape, mask, spray over and unmask.

But I see your point Kaitanium, these models without the paint on the side windows do look, off.
