Default British Midland B737-500 Build

This British Midland 737-500 model is a Minicraft 737-300 fuselage that has been cut to make a 737-500. A friend of mine gave me the British Midland livery decals so I thought I would put them to good use with this scheme.

The model was painted with Testor's Gloss Grey, testors Silver and Tamiya Gloss Blue from the spray can's. A sharp #2 pencil was used to highlight the control surfaces. To finish, two coats of Future floor wax!

Enjoy the Pic's!

Fantastic! Love this livery.

Congratulations.

I hope to see a BMI 737 in 1:400 wearing this livery.

Thanks for sharing.

Thumbs up Re: British Midland B737-500 Build

Looks great!!!! As an FYI, DACO has released a 737-500 in 1:144th scale...just to save you the surgery if you decide to build another.

Once again, Thanks for your great comments!

I'll give the fans a little more attention next time...don't know how they slipped by????

Yes, this livery in 1:400 would be soooo nice!:

Thanks for the DACO tip. I'm going to check out these kits soon. I hear they're pretty good. Avoiding any unnecessary cutting is always good! This Minicraft -300 kit was the last kit sitting on my shelf.............time to go shopping again!

This Minicraft kit is a 1:144 scale. I don't recall if Minicraft has a 1:200 scale airliner??

Excellent job, zubart! Very smoothly done! I was trying to locate the cuts but it's too smooth to be visible. Did you cut it forward or aft of the wings or both? I believe you have to do both cuts forward and aft of the wingbox to make it as accurate as possible.

Great job on your -500 guy. Looks Good.

I made a UA MiniCraft -300. They go together quite nicely.

Thanks!

About 11/16 inches total removed, 5/16 inches forward and 6/16 inches aft were cut.
A real -500 is 7.8 feet shorter than a -300, or about .65 inches shorter in 1:144 scale.
