Hi all,
Here is a Hasegawa 1/200 Delta MD-11 I built for a collector. Thought I'd share her with you guys. Best Regards, Brad Shinn ![]() Last edited by Brad; 07-08-2007 at 05:51 PM. |

Hasegawa's 1/200 are lightyears better than anything ever done in metal diecast, so I knew the model "Made by Brad" will look awesome. And so it is. Great work!
One thing is catching my eyes on a quick glance though. Are the MD-11 titles on engine #2 supposed to be italized to the front or did you accidentaly mix up both sides' decals? |

Hasegawa's kits are superb and I always look forward to new releases.
However, they limit their productline to only airliners hteir country's carriers fly or flew. So, in light of this we should see the 747-400F and the 737NG hopefully coming soon since JAL and ANA has these respectively. Good work Brad, as usual. Keep them coming. I may PM you on this -11. ![]() |

And if they'd get rid of their horrible engine assembly that leaves these ugly intakes (seams and steps) all the time if don't carefully work on them. Brad did a great job here (as usual). Brad, if I'd be the customer, I wouldn't bother all that much about the MD-11 titles. The model looks breathtaking the way it is. I feel guilty for pointing that out at all - as I myself wasn't sure if it's right or wrong ![]() |

Thanks both for the kind replies!
Yea, it's a coin-toss for me to remove those titles or not. I'll let you know when he gets back from vacation. Your right about the seams on the insides of the power-plants. I made some inserts from styrene for #1 and #3 and used the cap from a "Sharpie" pen for the #2 insert. Here are some underside pics to share with you all. Best Regards and thanks for the kind comments guy's! Brad Last edited by Brad; 02-01-2007 at 12:41 AM. |

Great work Brad! Those look like the Liveries Unlimited decals. I finally found a few sets of 1/200 DL L-1011 decals from LU, not easy decals to find since LU went out of business a few years back. I need to get a few more MD-11 sets, since the last one I built got destroyed in a move. I'd love to ask you to build one for me if you can work your magic on the flaps & slats. The L-1011 I'm working on now will be better than the last one I did, I found a Platz photoetch set for it, and I'm going to position the ailerons at rest (hydraulic system off) as if it were parked at the gate. The other L-1011 kit I have will be used as an experiment to try and open the cargo doors, and scratchbuild the main cargo floors, with LD3 cans! ![]()

Thank You David,
Yea, this kit is the "purple boxed" kit with no decals. The no thrills version! The decals are from Liveries too. I would of loved to drop the flaps/slats on her as well, but the collector likes the static look instead. That's great that you found those decals and the photoetched parts too. That's half the battle right there. It's a sweet build to make. No major concerns with design and fit. It's just simply mad that Hasegawa does not make a 1/144 version of any airliners. Good luck on your builds and enjoy your MD-11's. Best Regards, Brad

Hey Brad, I forgot to ask, how are the 1/144 flaps & slats coming along?

Hi David,
The flaps/slats are on the back burner for now. Still have to make prototypes again and work with a new cast/mold expert. It's very hard to continue to re-build the flaps/slats when they break from extraction from molds. Very time consuming. Also, very busy with custom collector builds too.....Ahhhhh...crazy sometimes. Sometimes you have to deal with decal designs for some of these builds. Thier's quite a bit of effort (as you know) that goes into one of this birds of prey! I try my best all the time and want them to look good. I enjoy to share all my work with you guys and respect VERY much all your feed back too........THANKS!!! One day da---Flaps will land! Best Regards, Brad

Thanks Agent X20!!!
Yea, I wonder why their are not many 3 holers around in diecast? Could be the wing profile at the wing root area or maybe the #2 engine. I think I saw some L-1011's from Small World at one time. Best Regards, Brad |
