Hi there, just wondering if anyone has ever been able to move decals on a diecast (or perhaps even plastic) model that were put there by the manufacturer without ruining them? My particular situation involves some burago 1:18 scale cars that have the decals applied incorrectly (yes I'm talking about cars in a plane forum but this can apply to planes too). There are actual depressions in the diecast model where the decals should be and some of the decals are not even close to being in these depressions. I was wondering if I could move them somehow (or are they permanent?)? Perhaps by softening them up with some microsol might work, that's what I came up with. Anyone ever try this? I don't wanna ruin the decals so I'm leery of trying anything without getting some feedback. Any help would be GREATLY appreciatted!

Brush it over the decals several times using a soft brush until the entire decal comes loose. Move it gently with your brush and apply enough microset. It may work without ruining the decals. Good luck. But: Aren't those decals clearcoated?? If they are, you have a big problem. ![]() Last edited by Phantom; 05-25-2004 at 06:37 AM. |
