Cool

That's not the point, this is a "One of a kind" model requested by a regular customer and will not be for sale.

Red face

Its very obvious that "surreal" is indeed surreal and not playing with a full deck coming up with such a question....

No, it was a valid question . . . jesus christ.

Im not much into the airbus scene, for various reasons, which I will not go into ONCE AGAIN here.

Its a great model chris, you did one heck of a job. But I was simply asking has an A380 departed toulouse (or wherever Airbus is building their aeroplanes) even once yet? Or is it still in the "planning stages." Just a lot of hype for something that does not exist yet, and that very well COULD fail.

Is it really that hard to simply say "No, it has not flown yet" But that you must jump into your ego mode and hammer on me simply because I asked a rather simple question, one that you think I should now.

with that said. . .Ill take the answer to be a no.

Once again Chris, understand I was not throwing **** your way, was simply asking a realistic question regarding the real flight happenings of this whale.

Unhappy

Sorry Surreal, I just assumed that being into aircraft you would know that the A380 is no where near "in the air", not until at least 2010.

Again, sorry, I didn't intend the reply to sound like I was jumping on you.

Err... 2010? Are you sure about that date? I thought it was scheduled to be flown in 2006?

Anyway, this is a great custom you've done, and I can see why the buyer of this model wanted to sacrifice a Braniff silver. (This looks much better than that did! )

Nice job! Can't wait to see this in real!

I would think that anyone who is even somewhat involved in aviation, as a hobby or professionally, would be knowledgeable about whether such an aircraft has flown. Surreal, I hope you open your eyes and ears a bit more when you begin your Air Force stint.

BTW Chris, super nice detail on the Union Jack!

lol. . . keep attacking me. . . really, have at it. I could care less about when the A380 lifts off for the first time, how the hell does that equate to my eyes and ears being "open" or "closed"

get a life, and leave me the fuc-k alone while your at it.

Surreal,

It just doesn't seem that you have an interest in educating yourself. Your posts are inane, and your questions sound like they come from someone who has been comatose for 10 years.

BTW, I have a life. Much moreso than you, based on the number of posts you've racked up over the past few weeks. Too bad you didn't make it in ATC. I guess it was a tad more difficult than you thought.

here you go again, attacking me. . .

where do you get this data that i failed at ATC?

Cause I sure would like to see it, and figuring that I would have seen it BEFORE you were informed through whatever AF ties you may have. . . it appears your assumption is incorrect.

So once again, I go back to enjoy this hobby with people who enjoy it as much as myself, if not more. Rather than sit here and get into another pissing match with an egotistical female on an online messge board.

Good day Ma'am.

You gave this "data" to another forum member, who passed it along to me. I guess he's making it up, based on your reply.

No, never failed. Was qualified, then after it came back from the SG twice, that my uncorrected vision results were not approved (20/300 in left, 20/400 in right - the 20/400 knocked me out. . . ). I got disqualified, and was then qualified for a number of other jobs, Meteorology being one of them. I had the option given to me to get the LASIK surgery after I got out of Tech school, which I accepted. Once the LASIK surgery is complete, and after my 35 months @ the Meterology AFSC I will then bid for a crosstrain slot into 1C0X1 (ATC).

Sure it sucks, but I did not "fail" at it like someone told you. Just means the journey towards the goal will be a little longer than anticipated. Thats how life goes sometimes, and I am sure you would understand. See how nice we can be to each other? The calm and relaxing atmosphere is so nice.

I never used the word "fail" in any of my posts.

I don't know about how the intrinsic value of a one of kind custom model will have over a model that has been produced in limited quantities from one of the manufacturers, but is it safe to say that now since there are only 49 BI silvers out there instead of the initial 50 produced, the value of those have increased?

In other words, can someone explain to me if a custom model will likely ever possess the same value as a rare bird from one of the established manufacturers, or is it truly a sacrifice on the part of the person who has commissioned the work to have something unique that the collector themself will value?

Cool

OK, let the truth be known, I did NOT use the BI silver.

I painted this model from scratch from a Airbus colors A380.

As far as value, It depends on the name of the customizer, if he puts out quality models he will quickly earn a good reputation, Once the name is out there and people have good things to say others are willing to pay a premimum price for a one of 20, or a one of 5, or a 1 of a kind.
Value is deturmined by the collector.

Knowing a little about the customizing of models myself I recognize how labor intensive it can be...especially with the details and on such a small scale (I work in 1/200).

That said, I think any sort of customization work is going to come at a premium. However, as a collector, I also have to weigh the benefits of having a model that already has some value and possibly losing it to making it into something else.

Anyway, thanks for the info CB...and it is a very nice model...your work is a credit as it did fool me enough that a BI silver was indeed used as a base.
