Post The skunkworks laboratory...

You may find some interesting models in production... including a quite innovative surprise...

Cool

If the L-1011 is going to be a BWIA the color is way off.

Yup...

... making a handful of blue Concordes,
... dialing in the elusive BWIA teal/sea foam color,
... Stacy's creating a Pink Floyd tour/tribute on the black SP,
... a couple of "down under" SP variations,
... a very "special" project (blurred),
... Russell's Pink Flamingo A380,

as well as a BMI n/c and a unique SP model from South Africa.
stay tuned.

Question

Is that a see-through A380 fuselage in the background?

I bet the blurred A380 is either a Gold or Rainbow Braniff 380.

Am I right Scott?

FWIW,
The Bader BWIAs I have, which look very accurate in colour*, match to Pantone 327.
*on the screen at the Bader web site they appear much greener (too green) than they are on my shelf, where the blue-ish tinge kicks in properly.

There was going to be a model paint (Xtracolor) matched to a real Boeing-BWIA paint chip but the (737) decal has not yet been produced so neither has the paint. `Airliners!' here on DAC might know more about that if he is reading this.

My guess about the mystery plane is that it is clear cast and will have clear windows once painted. Nice idea. Don't forget a nose weight.

Hey Niels...
Granted I've never seen nor photographed the BWIA teal in person... we've analyzed, calibrated exposure and color balance on some Airliners.net BWIA images in (yes, I am professional qualified) which contained known reference densities and tones and based upon those reference points we're tending to dial in more towards Pantone 3125- 3135... moving away from green. ModelMaster "turquoise" 2765 seems like a good starting point... we'll have to see how it shifts when it dries down...

Airliners!' here on DAC might know more about that if he is reading this.

Yes, my fellow comrade here in the desert... he's an invaluable resource with all his modeling and aviation experience. Where are you Russell??? I got your big bright pink Braniff sitting here awaiting to join your archives!

Weight will not be the problem on this particular model...

Take Care!

Solid silver! An idea I had a while back. Forget "real metal", gimme polished and clearcoated silver!
