As it stands, if you want US, British, German and Japanese aircraft, well things are not to bad. Unfortunately, if you would like to see Italian, Soviet, French or some of the minor participants of WWII, pickings are mighty slim (Japanese aircraft selection could use some additions too.). So here are some of the aircraft I wouldn't mind seeing get done (Not holding out to much hope for some of them though.).
Australian 1. CA-1 Wirraway 2. CA-13 Boomerang Czechoslovakia 1. Avia B.35 2. Avia B.534 France 1. Bloch MB 131 2. Bloch MB 152 3. Caudron-Renault C.714 Cyclone 4. Dewoitine D 510 5. Dewoitine D 520 6. Morane-Saulnier M.S.406 7. Potez 63.11 8. Potez 670 / 671 Germany (Not that it has been overly short changed) 1. Arado Ar 196 2. Dornier Do 17/ 215/ 217 3. Fieseler Fi.156 4. Heinkel He 51 Italy 1. Breda Ba.65 2. Fiat CR.32 3. Fiat CR.42 4. Fiat G.50 Freccia 5. Macchi C.200 Saetta 6. Macchi C.202 Folgore 7. Macchi C.205 Veltro. 8. Reggiane Re.2000/ 2001 / 2002 / 2005 9. Savoia-Marchetti S.M.79 Sparviero Japan 1. Aichi E13A Jake 2. Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu 3. Kawasaki Ki-48 Lily 4. Mitsubishi A5M Claude 5. Mitsubishi G3M1 Nell 6. Mitsubishi Ki-21 Sally 7. Mitsubishi F1M Pete 8. Mitsubishi Ki-46 Dinah 9. Mitsubishi Ki-51 Sonia 10. Mitsubishi G4M Betty 11. Nakajima Ki-27 Nate 12. Nakajima J1N Gekko Netherlands 1. Fokker D XXI 2. Fokker G.I Polish 1. PZL P.11C 2. PZL P.23 Karas Romania 1. I.A.R. 80/81 Soviet Union 1. Ilyushin IL-4 2. Ilyushin IL-2 3. LaGG-3 4. Lavochkin La-5 / 7 / 9 5. Petlyakov Pe-2 6. Polikarpov I-15 7. Polikarpov I-16 8. Polikarpov I-153 9. Sukhoi Su-2 10. Yakovlev Yak-3 / 7 / 9 United Kindom (Far from short changed, but so many nice ones still to be done.). 1. Armstrong Whitworth Whitley 2. Avro Manchester 3. Boulton-Paul Defiant 4. Fairey Battle 5. Fairey Fulmar 6. Fairey Firfly 7. Fairy Barracuda 8. Handley Page Hampden 9. Short Stirling U.S.A. (Definitely far from being short changed, but again, quite a few nice ones yet to be done.) 1. Douglas Devastator 2. Douglas A-20 Havoc 3 Lockheed Hudson 4. Lockheed P-38F 5. Martin B-10 6. Martin Maryland 7. Martin Baltimore 8. Seversky P-35 9. Stearman PT-17 10. Vought OS2U Kingfisher 11. Vought SB2U Vindicator. So many planes that would be nice to see done (And this is my short list). Most of these probably have little chance of being done, but just maybe a few might actually get done,,, just have to cross my fingers. |

WWII aviation history is something I really like. Summer before last focused mainly on the opening stages of the war in the Pacific. I was surprised at some of the aircraft that were actually put to use. British using the Vickers Vildebeest, and the Dutch using their export version of the Martin B-10. Aircraft that were totally obsolete going up against more modern Ki-43s and the A6Ms, makes for some mighty interesting reading. I have had tons of fun reading about the early stages of WWII. For example, if Corgi was to make a model of the the first RAF aircraft to score an aerial victory what would it be? Spitfire, Hurricane or possibly a Blenhiem IF. Nope they would have to do a Fairey Battle. Seems unlikely, but Sgt. F. Letchard a Battle gunner scored first RAF victory on 20 September 1939 near Aachen. Obscure bits of aviation history like this make for some really fun reading.

Apart from getting destroyed on the ground in the Philippines, the Martin B-10 didn't really participate much in the war. It was being withdrawn from service in favor of the B-17. In fact, a lot of the planes you listed were very minor players during that time, but interesting anyway. Several of the Japanese planes listed actually have been done by various manufacturers (you don't have a scale listed, so I assume you don't care about that).

France
1. Bloch MB 131 2. Bloch MB 152 3. Caudron-Renault C.714 Cyclone 4. Dewoitine D 510 5. Dewoitine D 520 6. Morane-Saulnier M.S.406 7. Potez 63.11 8. Potez 670 / 671 ---> These ones only existed as prototypes. Not a single bomber in this list. LéO 451 Bréguet 693 There were a few others, but these ones (along with the US-built DB-7) were the most widely used. Japanese and Soviet are scarce too. I guess we'll see most of USAAF/Luftwaffe aircraft done before something more "exotic" reach our shelves.

Our Air Force also widely used the Hawk 75 (P-36 in USAAF), the GC (Groupe de Chasse) I/5, using them, being the French fighter unit scoring the highest number of victories (111) during the 1939-40 campaign. Amiot 351, Amiot 143, and Farman 222, bombers too, were also used, but I didn't mention them as they were either obsolete or too few to have a real effect on operations.

What kit is this, Tamiya 1/48...?
MB-131, CR-714 and Potez 670 ?!!! You're dreaming awake dear CC ! ![]() Especially about the "670" : Production was never actually launched... Imho the only French types from that period, that have a slim chance of ever interesting a manufacturer are the MS406, D520, D500/501/510, MB152, Pz 631, Pz 63-11, Br693, MB174 and LeO 451. |

I Beat Blazing Angels For The PS-3 Where I Use The Devastator At Rabaul To Destroy The Ryujo In The Battle Of The Coral Sea & The 4 Carriers At Midway. However The Game Gives You A Big Advantage. Unlimeted Torpedoes To Destroy The Fleet, Fewer Zeros Than In The Actual Battle (You Have To Shoot Them While On The Carrier Decks Before They Take Off) And You Have A Squdron Of 3 Fighters To Keep Them Off My Back. I Destroyed The Entire Fleet But Came Out With A Smoke Trail You Can See Across The Pacific. I Remember When I Was Young, I Built 2 F-4F Wildcats, And One Avenger From Revell. They Were Neat Kits And Well Detailed With Folding Wings & Retracting Gear. |

I Have One. It Has Photo Etched Parts And Only Cost 12 Bucks. I See You Like The Exotic Stuff. So Do I But Particularly The German Experimental Aircraft. Note The Dornier 17 Resembles The Junkers 88 (That's Pronounced Yoonkers People NOT Junkers) With The Only Easily Identifiable Difference Is The Twin Boom Tail On The Dornier. I Built 2 Ju 88 Kits When I Was Young. Since I Quit Collecting I Had Time To Discover These Sites. Check Them Out. ..... No "flying boats" on the list? The Germans and Japanese had some pretty interesting aircraft in that category. And the British Short Sunderland is well-known. Same with the Walrus and Singapore. ..... How about a very well-known aircraft MIA in 1/400 scale? The C-141 Starlifter. Flew on one from Biloxi, Mississippi to Anderson AFB, Guam. Long flight, jammed into jumpseats, uncomfortable, but never the less memorable. Dave Last edited by dboyd001; 10-05-2008 at 01:25 PM. |

Hello,
Right now I am in the progress of starting up a new brand (together with a chinese manufacturer) for diecast aircraft in the scales 1/72 - 1/48 and 1/32. This is not only a nice wish or a thought, but already far materialized and dezd serious !!!!! Right now I am looking in this forum for the types of aircraft which would be interesting to produce, BUT must be far from the common subjects the current manufacturers are producing to ensure a good an new position in the market. I saw your wish (short ?) list, which I find very interesting, because some subjects are on it which are already on my list for eventual production. I am very interested to receive your "long" list. I am dutch, so the D21 and G1 are already on it !!!! The first models have to appear on the market end 2009. But I need everybodies help !!!!! Please everybody, who is interesting to do so, can submit me a list of all the aircraft types, which you all would like to have produced in combination with the wanted scale. Everybody will receive a reply from me and I will ensure that when the model will be produced, the persons who gave me the most support / information will receive the model from me or will be asked to review the first prototypes of the model. Thanking you all in advance and please take the change to help creating a new interesting brand of diecast aircraft !!! |
