Coodoo's to Don at Inflight on this beauty. LOL JustPlaneCrazy 07-14-2004, 09:18 PM Anyone see the Inflight200 Pan Am B747 at the L.A. Show? Does anyone know when the release date is? jjorgemiami 07-15-2004, 10:34 PM Nice.......... I wish they had done the delivery colors! KevinO 07-16-2004, 02:56 PM Not sure of the release date but I do have them up for order on my site. My guess it will be released sometime in August. At least that's what I'm hoping for. funbird 07-16-2004, 03:18 PM Yeah I have no idea why they went for the billboard scheme instead of the 1970 or even early 80's livery. I'll still have to nab one of these however. MarinerOne 07-16-2004, 03:37 PM Yeah I have no idea why they went for the billboard scheme instead of the 1970 or even early 80's livery. I'll still have to nab one of these however. Agreed on that point. It would have made more sense since this is the inaugural IF200 747-100 that they use the original Pan Am delivery scheme ... David Hingtgen 07-16-2004, 10:37 PM Am I the only one who actually prefers billboard colors on the 747? Santos 07-16-2004, 10:38 PM No, you're not! Good evening. Santos funbird 07-17-2004, 12:32 AM The billboard scheme is okay but historically it represents the livery Pan Am wore during it's final years. Not nearly as good as the 1970 scheme when PA was THE flag carrier. It's like coming out with a CO 747 model but putting on the current livery instead of the black contrail logo from 1970. jjorgemiami 07-17-2004, 12:33 AM Kevin Are You Going To Hook Me Up? KevinO 07-17-2004, 07:50 AM Jorge, I'll hook you up. Just shoot me an email that you want one so I have it on file. I will contact you when it come in. Thanks! Dr. Edmund H. Carus 07-17-2004, 01:20 PM Why not contact Inflight 200? If there is the demand I'm sure that they will add the "original" PanAm livery to the range. Also, a real candidate for Inflight 200 is an ACCURATE "Air Force 1" (actually a 747-200) complete with flight refuelling nose bulge and numerous antennae! Inflight 200 might respond to sufficient customer demand. A polished metal finish on the lower fuselage/engine rears will be most effective! Cheers! David Hingtgen 07-18-2004, 05:53 PM I'd demand TWA twin-stripes. Final scheme is nice (hope that's the next release, based on the samples shown), but twin-stripe 747 is pretty much THE definitive TWA plane of the late 70's through mid 90's. TWALOVER 07-18-2004, 05:55 PM yeah... we need more twin strips TWA 747. MarinerOne 07-19-2004, 12:56 PM yeah... we need more twin strips TWA 747. For me personally, I think that 747-100-series should initially be decorated in liveries in those airlines which were launch customers. These being: Pan American World Airways (original detached font) TWA (twin globe) United (single blue cheat line - no stars/bars) American BOAC (dark blue cheat line/tail) Japan Airlines (red/navy cheat line) Air France (dark navy cheat line) Alitalia Obviously, we can all think of many more excellent examples, but the original Pan Am and TWA schemes are must haves for many collectors. Of course though, these would be too obvious for the manufacturers, and if they did produce them too early in the manufacturing cycle, many collectors would snap them up, and upon future releases of less popular liveries, the collectors may consider not buying them due to limited shelf space and/or budget constraints. So in one sense, it is logical for manufacturers to "jump around" when it comes to livery releases, to keep the collectors "on the edge of their seats" and clamoring for more distinctive releases. That marketing strategy seems to work for me at least! ;) David Hingtgen 07-19-2004, 09:16 PM TWA may have launched it in twin-globe, but they spent many more years in twin-stripe. And all the follow-on/leased ones arrived in twin-stripe. :) PS--wow, what a concept--major/first operators of a plane for choosing the liveries! ;) I do think 1/200 diecast (what little there is) tends to do that better than 1/400---few if any Pokemons and fantasy planes. Man, if the first 5 Inflight 747's are like PAA, TWA, BA, UAL, and NWA... Diecaster 07-19-2004, 10:24 PM So when is the SQ 744 50th aniversary will be relaesed & where can we order it? jjorgemiami 07-19-2004, 10:54 PM For me personally, I think that 747-100-series should initially be decorated in liveries in those airlines which were launch customers. That marketing strategy seems to work for me at least! ;) I agree with what you said, especially the Pan Am and TWA, I would love a National Sunking B747, damn that would be nice!!! :p As for the BOAC, I would prefer the British Airways red tail livery. As far as the Air France that color scheme would be awesome, along with a B707 and maybe Herpa will also produce the B727, yum yum! I would love an A300 and a Concorde in the delivery colors too. For my money one of the most elegant and simple colors schemes of all time! :) Nobbe 07-20-2004, 03:43 AM What about the other series? There were rumours about Flying Tigers -200, Ansett -300 (Sydney 2000) and Singapor and BA -400. Gimme the Ansett!!!! niels 07-20-2004, 08:15 AM I'd like the Lionair-BWIA (http://www.airliners.net/open.file/391408/M/) hybrid please. LOL LOL as if! http://www.airliners.net/photos/small/8/0/4/391408.jpg MarinerOne 07-20-2004, 08:58 PM What about the other series? There were rumours about Flying Tigers -200, Ansett -300 (Sydney 2000) and Singapor and BA -400. I'll take 'em one at a time thankyouverymuch. At $200 a pop, I have no problem with slowwwwwwwwwwwwwww releases. :o David Hingtgen 07-21-2004, 12:28 AM Might as well, my want-list for each type: (as in, REALLY want, for while there's 30 I'd like, I'd rather have a new house for that much $$$) :) -100: TWA twin-stripe -200: NW red/grey -300: KLM o/c Thai -400: KLM o/c UAL grey/blue NW red/grey PS---gahhh! Ansett -300 Sydney. Nobody's going to buy one-offs at this price range. KLM is FAR more famous for stretched-deck non-400 747's, and a gorgeous scheme. TWALOVER 07-21-2004, 01:27 AM Hum hum... a 747-400 UAL grey/blue would be awesome! jjorgemiami 07-21-2004, 11:31 PM Hum hum... a 747-400 UAL grey/blue would be awesome! As would a 200, ummmmmmmm :p Hapag-Lloyd 08-19-2004, 06:26 PM ... or a Lufthansa o/c 741? LH was one of the launch customers, too! :) |
