An tAerfort
Dia dhuit all!
Im in the middle of builing this airport,(obviously) explains the mess, but i think its comming along well, the roads in particular turned out well. i started building the actual terminal building today, it`ll hav a roof tomorow. There be a car park in the big space in fornt of the terminal. then there be two piers like wings, theyll be along the black strip in the backround. You can just about make out the overview of my plans on the whight sheet on the left. here it is.....

The road really makes it. I just drew the roads out in pencil, then i painted over this whit black paint you dont have to stay inside the lines, but make sure you do the lines heavy enough so as you can still them after youv painted it. Then I cut out the grass out in the shapes i needes, which was very hard ill admitt, so really the grass forms the roads i put little stips of card board along the edge of the road, finishes it off. The lines are just stips of tape i cut down really narrow.

Ah! Very good to know...thanks for the answer.
Roadways are indeed looking most excellant pilapt! Really shows that you like to take your time and have a great eye for detail! Thanks for sharing your terminal progress pic.
Also, the terminal resembles a cross-section of a Wing, am I right? It too looks like it will be a great piece of work when completed.
Keep us updated!
p.s. Don't worry about having a mess in the pic while it is "under construction". A long time ago we had a member on here called "Manta" (Trevor) who's progress pics were always filled with ALOT more background junk than what you have here......by the time he was finished though, MAN was it worth it...still one of the best! I assume you're on the same road as he is.....

Well **** dylan! you hit the nail on the head, it is soposed to look "aerodynamic" cant belive you picked up on it, very encouraging. The piers where the EI fleet will go are also like wings. I am a bit of a deatail freak but as you say it pays of in the end, even if "it" involves nearly slicing your fukin fingers off.
I made progess on it today too, but im also builing two more terminal builings, so the photos are of these, but i promise to get some new ones of the main building up tomorow. The two new terminals are for EI short haul and the others for non EI long haul, this is the one in below. My thinking behind this was that "no airport is complete with out a 1960`s concrete monstrosity" which i happen to like. I love terminals that look as if thev been extened and have lots of gates and a pile of plans crammed around them, its much more realistic. I made it out of this card board stuff from scatch, besides the air bridges the whole thing is made custom for about a €5. viva custom building
So go raibh maith agat for the comments guys, here it is...

Re: An tAerfort
Hi pilapat, good work, I like it. Is your teminal inspired by the future DUB terminal? I saw some pictures on the web some months ago and, if I don't remember bad, it was similar to your new one. Is it a coincidence?

I saw you kinda "custome" the gangways...How did you do it?
Im building the new Bangkok International Airport, and I'm having some problems since the gangways in the airport itself in real life are wierd, and each one is diffrent..What do you offer me to do?

My airbridges are just the GJ ones with the the long bit on the end removed, then i just glued em onto the little buildings along the front, it felt strange hacking them to pices the second i took them out of the packet but they turned out well, so dont be afraid to alter them,

Re: An tAerfort
Finished!! well as finished as its gona get for now, as iv run out of material, time and patience. But I think iv realised my plans reasonably well, and you guys seem impressed so im happy. I might finish the longterm carpark and the front of the main terminal at a later date. Iv learned alot from this project, for example its much easier to work from plans in your head rather than on paper, also the material "taskboard" it was good but not great, fairly hard to cut. Over all i think iv developed my skill with this airport. Iv already got plans for another project the , the main terminal complex at Charles de Gaulle, hopefully i can achive the surgeon like precision with that project, like other airports on DA.C, buts not going to be for a while, so dont hold you breath.........
So i hope that you like it.
This is actually my favourite part, i was really happy with the "60`s monstrosity"
Overview of main builing and my EI collection...and i actually just realised i forgot the connect the wings with the main buling, shi-t!!!
Closer look at the airbridges.....
End of the runway and some taxiways.....
This looks kinda cool......?
Oh! the golden age is past........

This sure is a great looking tAerfort! The time and effort you have put into it really shows, and it is nothing short of spectacular to look at. Thanks for sharing such an awe-inspiring diorama with us, it is very much appreciated! And dont forget to keep the thread updated with more pics when you find the time......a nice retro series would be nice!
