1:200 Final Design - Approved...
Evening All...
You may have seen my other thread regarding my plans for my 1:200 Airport... well today ive had a spare hour or so to measure and mark my board with my final design which you can see in these Pics.........
As you can see i have decided to rotate the Terminal through 90 degrees thus avoiding having the rear gates hidden from view as pointed out by a fellow member...
This is my final layout plan, so over the coming week or two hopefully i can lay the tarmac texturing and grassed areas... once the base is layed i plan on doing all ground markings... and finally i plan to carry out the Terminal Build which will probably be the biggest challenge as this is my first go at this...
Not sure as to how much time i can give the project just yet im gonna see how i get on... i dont want to rush it
I shall post updates with pics as and when i feel worthy of it showing progress

Looks good. Can't wait to see it finished. My wife would love that in the front room. Are those your football mates in the photo?

Re: 1:200 Final Design - Approved...
finished early at work today so gave me an hour to do something so thought i would start with the runway...
Im using a fine grade dark sandpaper for the runway and using Uni-Posca Pens for the markings...
I havent glused the runway down yet i thought it easier to mark them up and then lay the individual panels out at the end...
The Runway is the easy bit so a good place to start

Make sure your dirty everything up, runways are never the same colour all the way down, the same with taxiways. Also, for the grass (and maybe trees) I recommend this website: Woodland Scenics - Model Layouts, Scenery, Buildings and Figures
The best way to get realistic results is just copy little things you see on google earth, colours of taxiways, different shades of grass etc!

Thanks for the advice, i have got some scenic grass from a model store on a roll... here is a pic of the runway with grass and also what ill be using for the taxiway/apron area to give an idea of what im using.....
As for dirtying it up, at this early stage i have no idea how ill achieve that, i think ill just have to focus on getting everything down and taking it from there

In order for the dirt to really stand out, make the runway lighter.
For example with this roof I did, you can see the dirt stands out.

Re: 1:200 Final Design - Approved...
I think i may have to re-assess the runway texture as i suppose it is a little too dark... do you think it would be better to use the same as i plan on using for the taxiways?
I was just going for a different texture to differentiate between the runway and taxiways....
