Default Farnborough 2012 Pics.

With the exception of a few sudden cloud bursts which soaked everyone, it (Friday 13th July) was a great show. Everything superbly organized and managed. As I had expected the Qatar 787, A320 Neo, Malaysian A380 and Korean 737-900 were gone, who cares about the public anyway, so I took pics of whatever else that was there. I took over 200 pics but only uploading the good ones and will keep adding more over the next few days so keep watching this thread.

The Volga Dnepr booth had these 2 models on display, the Lupa 1/200 AN124 and Herpa 1/200 748F with its horizontal stabs upside down. There were 2 men, a Russian and English in attendance who were chatting with some scruffy looking elderly man who was rattling on and on to them about something when after a while the English guy opened a drawer and handed him a boxed model of a 1:250 AN124 which the man casually looked at thanked them and kept on talking then left. I fell in love with this 1:200 Lupa AN124 as you can see why and was hoping they might have some and decided to strike up a conversation with the Russian by telling him the stabs on their 748 model were upside down, he asked me if I was sure and after telling him a little about me he looked quite embarrassed as he pulled them out and turned them over and agreed they looked much better. Then I asked both of them how difficult would it be to get one of those AN124 models and the English guy said they only had a few left for VIP's and I should come back towards the end of the day and if any were left he'd give me one. I confirmed if it was the same 1:200 model and he said yes. When I returned around 5.30pm, the halls were empty and the models were both gone and the English guy was sitting on a sofa with someone and when he saw me he said 'Sorry, everything's gone' to which I replied 'But of course' and walked off. Economic snobbery at its best.

I can understand 'no step' markings on wings and other sensitive flat areas but could someone explain this??

I think the no step mark on the Vulcan implies the top of the tailplane, but since you cant see the top until your on it, its on the side? Alternatively, it could refer to the small vent above the no step, implying it shouldn't be used as a foot hold?

Those Lasham based gliders weren't there when I was there on Thursday. I've flown a few of those ASK 21's in my time! Did you see the Air Cadets gliders when you were there?

What a great way to spend a rainy day. So many pics....I especially like the Challenger 300. It's kind of squat and squinty eyed....but verrrry cool. Sorry you missed the Neo, 737-9, 787. Why would they leave when the public had it's day at the show?..hmmm.

Because the public are not million $ hotshot customers flying in on their private jets and driving up in Bentleys and Maybachs with their blank checkbooks and placing billion $ orders, even though at the end of the day, the public are the ultimate end users of these planes but they don't consider that.

One would think that once a mfg got stuffed with order checks that they'd be in the mood to show off their cash cows to the other paying public.

Nope, once they get their orders, they're in too much of a hurry laughing (and flying) all the way to the bank.
