Incorrect, Russ! The Warthogs are very much alive and well in the Air Force inventory. They are still in considerable numbers with the USAF, the USAF Reserves, and the Air National Guard. They were very active in Kosovo, working the kill boxes with RAF and Marine Harriers. They have all received an upgrade called LASTE (Low Altitude Safety and Targeting Enhancement) system which Warthog drivers just love as it's giving the 'Hog night vision. 2 years ago GPS was integrated into the weapons systems.

Lockheed Martin is currently working on integrating precision weapons such as the JDAM and WCMD for the Warthog. Service extensions should see the 'Hog serving until 2028. There's even talk of re-engining them with similar engines as the latest CRJ700/900 series regional jets.
