Default Re: Pan Am 747 at Honolulu, 1978

Thanks guys, glad you liked it. I was surprised to see those United DC-8s there in HNL, didn't realize they flew them there. And with the new at the time red/orange/blue paint job, pretty cool. I'm pretty sure the Pan Am was Clipper Constitution. The film was taken from the restaurant overlooking the japanese garden in the center of the airport. I saw the 747 and recognized the clipper name from a picture in one of my books, and asked my dad to film it. We were heading on to Narita on Pan Am that day after a two night stopover in Honolulu. There weren't any nonstop flights from Seattle to Japan back then, so we went SEA-PDX-HNL-Narita. Northwest Orient was trying to start nonstop Seattle-Tokyo service, but I think they were running into problems getting government approval.
As a sidenote, later that summer Northwest Orient pilots went on strike, which really complicated travel between the states and Japan. Anyway, I'll post a couple more films that you guys might enjoy also.
