While others may see Reno as a crap hole, I see it as a quaint old city with some pretty damned exciting night life. But, because I was there for only a week back in '02, the daytime hours in Reno were limited as my dad and I were involved with the Virginia City Hill Climb event.

If you're into auto classics, Reno houses some beautiful cars at their National Museum. There are also art galleries, and performing arts that include popular and classical music as well as theatre. I did find a hobby shop but can't remember if there were model aircraft. I was more into trains at the time.

Watering holes are plentyful but I learned that a lot of construction is replacing many vacant lots with new condos.

As you know, there are some beautiful places outside of Reno that will take you to more watering holes and historical sites. Carson City (Railroad Museum), Truckee, Lake Tahoe (I missed Peter Frampton by a few days), Virginia City, Silver City and Dayton (the ladies are hot if you know what I mean).

Picture of my dad coming in from the five mile hill climb, Virginia City. After a couple times going up myself, I got queasy and told my pop that I'm going to Dayton for some female company. His only reply was: "Do you need extra money?"
Thanks for information. I checked out the Reno area before deciding to relocate there. As with any city there is good and bad. But so far I have found more good then bad in the Reno-Lake Tahoe area. There is lots of beautiful areas to explore around the Reno area.
