But really, the biggest problem that continues to exist today is jockeying for that coveted piece of real estate known as the center armrest. You can sit next to the skinniest person and still have that level of discomfort for space.

If I get stuck in a middle seat, the armrests are mine. Period. On a Southworst flight from PDX to SLC last week, some a-hole on the aisle seat was using both armrests. I knocked his elbow off and just stared at him. Armrests were mine for the duration. I am NOT someone you want to be sitting next to on a commercial flight. Me being intoxicated usually has something to do with it. WooHoo for Heineken!
