Our society is an enabling one. We say, "It's not your fault if you're heavy, it's genetic or a disease." We pat people on the back for mediocrity, we tell people that criminal behavior is not their fault. It's all BS, and we need to stop doing it. Fat people are fat because they eat too much and don't exercise. I don't mean the genuinely ill people who have a metabolic condition or thyroid problems or whatever...the vast majority of fatties are self made. I'm overweight myself, but not to the extend of being morbidly obese...but I put every ounce on myself. If a truly fat person gets advantages like a free seat for their wide load, they will feel entitled, and make no effort to change their habits...why should they? They get accommodated. Extra wide seating in theaters, extra wide toilets at restaurants...even guerneys in ambulances are being widened and reinforced. Just another example of the downward spiral....
