I hear you all on the obese issue. Charging for two seats should be an option for the airlines. Another option would be to stow them in the cargo hold with specially designed seats.

But really, the biggest problem that continues to exist today is jockeying for that coveted piece of real estate known as the center armrest. You can sit next to the skinniest person and still have that level of discomfort for space.
