The main reason I prefer plastic is that if something needs to be corrected (as it does from time to time), you don't need a blowtorch to do it. Plastic landing gears seem to be more durable then metal gears, try fixing an AC gear when it breaks, drives me #$%ck&*$g nuts. Plastic gear, no problem. Metal gears also seem to break for no reason at all, I have picked up more that one AC model only to find the main wheel bogey left behind on the shelf. For some reason this is not a problem with GJ and DW uses plastic.
