I would also try resizing your pictures to say 1024x768 pixels with a photo program (as suggested above), but it depends on what final size picture you need. For these forums a picture that size will fill up most peoples screens, I am not sure if when people upload pictures to this site (I have never done it) if it automatically resizes them smaller than 1024x768 anyway, if it does then there is no harm in in resizing them first. A picture with a size 1024x768 file size should be under 1mb. (With compression it will reduce the file size futher). At 7.1mp, these pictures must be quite big, good for very large prints but not for the web. Hope this hasn't confused you, you need to remember that picture size and file size are seperate things.
