My model airplanes are 1:400 scale. To build the main terminal I cut up strips of hobby wood available at most hobby stores. Each piece of wood was something like 1/4" thick or so and 3" wide and several feet long. Then I cut smaller pieces of wood and put them in between each long strip in order to achieve that kind of banding effect which most airports have. Because the pieces of wood in between the big strips of wood were so small you couldn't see them but they were big enough to hold the bigger strips together. Then I glued and painted the constructed main terminal building. Surrounding the terminal are the standard Herpa buildings.
