Those 2nd Gen lens (marked with "II") suffered the dreaded soft at the full focal length. Especial those lenses (either the 100-300mm or the 75-300 /70-300mm IS) you name it, tend to soften the images at 300mm.

I only found it sharp in the range of 150mm-200mm, below this and above that, you can just forget it. lol. At that time the 75-300mm was the only lens that I could afford, and since I was a rookie, I didnt take the time to ask the forums (I didnt even have a computer at that time either) I just wanted to get a lens quick, so I could go out and take photos. Hahaha.

Oh yeah, One you felt the Love from Canon, you never want to try other products..

After I purchased my 24-105mm L lens, I simply had to go and buy one of the best lenses from Canon, the 70-200mm F2.8 IS as a supplementary for the smaller lens. (And still today Canon has not yet made a better product, except ofcourse the excellent Prime lenses) Not worthy lol
