..... In 1994 got to sit in the back seat of an F/A-18B with my buddy Fred "Spuds" Johnson in front. No 18 minutes though. He had the plane to do carrier quals and on one for the back seat so I got the invite. Flew mostly over the Atlantic off Virginia. Did touch & goes, landings and take-offs on the USS Eisenhower. The total time was about six hours from the time we took off from NAS Oceana and return. Fred paid for lunch in the CVN69 wardroom and my handle for the day was "Grunt".
..... Although it was shorter, it seemed longer sitting in one of those damned jumpseats in a C-141 from Biloxi AFB to Guam. We were jammed in so tight if you needed to use the toilet you had better plan that an hour or two in advance.
..... Longest commercial flight was Singapore Airlines Seattle to Jakarta with a brief stop at Singapore.
..... Shortest flight was aboard a Navy CH-46 from USS Inchon (LPH12) to NAS Norfolk: about 10 minutes.
