Although this pic was taken six years before I was born, I would argue that the 70s and 80s were two of the greatest decades for airliner enthusiasts. Jet travel was still relatively new and exciting (though less so than the '50s and '60s), airlines were for the most part profitable, and some of the most beautiful airliner designs were in the prime of their lives: 727, 737 classics, 747 classics, DC-9, DC-10, L-1011, etc. Airline liveries were less dull and airport aprons were full of variety, as this pic shows.
