If you want to do the later Ozark, Trans Texas, and some others, yiou would need to add landing gear doors. They decided to "streamline" the 3 and maybe add a mile per hour to the cruising speed.
I hope all of these will be made including Hawaiian's outstanding Viewmaster edition. I flew on them several times and the view of the Hawaiian islands was breathtaking and the aircraft livery was one of the best I have ever seen on a DC-3.
Hawaiian later equipped them with Pacific Aeromotive's, "Speed Pac" gear doors, tail wheel strut fairing and streamlined cowlings with thrust augmentation. Ozark and Hawaiian both claimed a 10 mile per hour increase in speed but the changes were made to dress up an aging plane to attract customers looking for a more modern airliner.
